And today we're also adding @IanM to our team 🤟 . Superstar in keeping FoF extensions patched, he has great skill in many areas that we'd like to utilize. Hoping to prevent him from being too thin spread, he'll be assisting primarily in the release cycle with QA.

Now with the new year well on its way and the team having had a moment to not think of Flarum at all, today was the time for the kick off meeting of the upcoming v0.1.0-beta.16 release. Our sixteenth release already 😱

While we battled through a couple of organizational topics and all issues on the milestone for this release and 0.1 it has become even more apparent how motivated everyone is to get started.

Our hope is to release beta 16 as our first release candidate. A release candidate is a release which is considered viable to be released as stable. Yep, you're reading that right! After beta 16 we hope to have tackled all major extension breaking changes. Any of the following releases might as well be stable 🥳

This release will take care of:

completing the PHP extenders
completing UTF8 compatibility
search refactoring

and much, much more.

Arnold we're at a point where everything is stabilising nicely. Occasionally some odd bugs show up and some are rather pressing. But we're now really at a turning point where the future is no longer about breaking things, but more about increasing extensibility, performance and adoptability.

Some updates from my end:

Reached out to digital ocean to extend our open source credit.
Working on putting in writing what we allow in terms of domain registration with the flarum trademark.
Implemented Flarum compatibility with PHP 8; still need to get some changes from the review done.

Are there any plans for better image uploading/arranging, as we see in vanilla forums and xenforo?
This is the main barrier of adoption and providing financial support to the flarum team from the donations i get to run my forums.

neptronix there is no plan to have an upload extension maintained by the Flarum development team at the moment. However if community-made solutions discover issues making their extensions work with Flarum we would be happy to accommodate the framework to make it possible.

There are already multiple community-maintained image upload extensions, you can also consider sponsoring those community developers directly.

Finished up the php 8 PR and got it merged 🥳
Followed up with the Laravel 8 components PR.
Handling some organizational matters.

Two weeks and a day since the kick off and 50% of our planned tasks are done 😉
