OlafHimmelberg I had not only the German language package deactivated but also the English, I think that's where the error lies.

Yes, you need at least one language pack installed and it's wise not to remove or disable the English language pack as a fall back. It's better to have an English description than cryptic strings like core.forum.header.sign_up_link. If you still see these cryptic strings you probably just need another php flarum cache:clear.

Pollux Sorry.... I have to smile a little bit, the code line "php flarum cache:clear" I have used 100 times, the message is always "Clearing the cache....".

How can clearing the cache re-enable the language?...
Shouldn't there be a start code for the extension in question?

But to answer you, the input brought no change, still no buttons :-(

      Hi Olaf.

Looks like this is becoming quite the hassle.

The extiverse helper can possibly help you toggle the language on again:

      php extiverse ext:toggle flarum/lang-english

Alternatively you can go into your database directly to the settings table with key extensions_enabled update the value of that entry by adding "flarum-english" somewhere inside -- the helper obviously is easier 😉

luceos Okay... now it gets complicated ;-)
"php extiverse ext:toggle flarum/lang-english" gives the following message "Could not open input file: extiverse".

And I have to look at the database to understand it :-)

OlafHimmelberg I'm sorry looks like those download instructions were outdated and I forgot to add the binary to the latest 0.1 release. Please do check now 😉

luceos ..... Puh..... if this was in German then I would understand it in a few hours, but in English with the translator it takes much longer (if I can manage it at all).
Will probably only be able to report tomorrow :-(

OlafHimmelberg How can clearing the cache re-enable the language?...

Of course it can't. But once you have activated at least one language pack, it can force a recalculation of the cache as I said:

Pollux If you still see these cryptic strings [...]

To activate a language pack after it has been installed (or if it has not been removed after a previous installation), look at luceos suggestion via the database (phpMyAdmin or Adminer). Or you try to navigate through your admin interface (likely https://www.technik22.de/flarum/public/admin) by guessing the meaning of the cryptic descriptions you see at the moment. It should be easy to find the language extension you are looking for, and then there are not so many options for interaction.

Pollux My admin page is white, see picture.
              https://www.bilderhoster.org/image/HRG5B

Oh if I clicked there wildly with the mouse nothing happens :-)
in the DB I find under the settings nothing that indicates the language, so I can not change or adjust anything.

Even write something to it does not work because I do not know how and what.

What really scares me is that due to such a small mistake as disabling the language the forum is not running well for a few days now.

If Flarum leaves the beta status and more users like me (without experience with PHP, code, etc.) use Flarum, so "errors" should be much faster and easier to fix.

The link to the "extiverse helper" makes me belly ache, still all post and images are available in the forum, I have the fear that they will no longer be there after running.

The instructions are hard to understand... at least for people who have no idea about it, I did not understand why the instructions for the installation can be found only in the middle of the text, I already thought they do not exist :-)

OlafHimmelberg in the DB I find under the settings nothing that indicates the language, so I can not change or adjust anything.

In the settings table there is a key named extensions_enabled, its content looks like:

                  ["flarum-emoji","flarum-likes","flarum-lock","flarum-markdown","flarum-mentions",...]

Here you should add the language pack you wish to enable / activate. As you can see, the order doesn't matter, so you can put it at the beginning like:

                  ["flarum-lang-english","kakifrucht-flarum-de",...]

I'm not 100% sure of the naming of @Kakifrucht's extension, but English at least should be OK.

So... the "extiverse helper" is installed, went faster because I only worked through the install text, the rest I have not considered.
If I now execute "php extiverse ext:toggle flarum/lang-english" I get the following error message:

These are things you should become familiar with first in a local test installation. Not exactly knowing what you do on a production site is always a risky thing, that is not specific to Flarum.

                      Pollux
Yes... I didn't mean that "Flarum" is to blame, that's me, sure I did that on my test forum and there I had the error first, only I didn't know at that time that it's really because of the language.
I thought it was something after the "Suspend" extension, so I was going to leave everything after "Suspend" Active.

And that was unfortunately wrong, so my test forum and my productive forum no longer runs!

Only I think one should, after the Betastauts with it reckon that so errors can happen more often and the solution for this should be easier.

                      By the way...

OlafHimmelberg My admin page is white, see picture.

This looks like more things might be broken with your installation, not just the langage pack.

But try my phpMyAdmin approach first.

Oh.... "This looks like more things might be broken with your installation, not just the langage pack." no!
The error appeared before the update.... and exactly as you can see it on the picture.
So this did not happen after the update, but before!

But anyway, I'll try your hint with the DB :-)

Looking at how long this issue has been taking:

I hereby allow the use of the German language inside this discussion in order to assist @OlafHimmelberg. This is a one-time exception to our community guidelines.

Try hard-refreshing this page to fix the error."

Now in English, I found it and adjusted it, put the English back in and then ran "php flarum cache:clear".
Now I have a "partial success", the buttons on the home page are back, only the admin page is still white, but here the message I can see only partially has changed to this "to load the full version of this site. Try hard-refreshing this page to fix the error."
