robinodds forget about merge.. its core level issue .. some numbering issue. MOVE is the only easy solution .

why you want to merge discussions ? moving is the easy solution .. no need to worry about discussions numbering and errors .

usually we want to merge when its duplicate to something right ? if we merge we will also lose post url again google will punish if we deindex pages (merging)

if we set at forum level approve each and every post & discussion we can just play with MOVE feature .. this is easy and makes life simple .

even flarum.org has around 30k discussions and they can not merge in some cases .. IDK why they did not given importance to move feature ... maybe they consider based on the download count of the extension to spend time on it.

i wish i was a developer to make our dreams possible 🙏 (praying god)

We rarely merge, and on the off chance we do need to take comments from one post and merge them into another we do a split and then merge. Which doesn't take much effort, and at least in my own experience doesn't error. With that said we also aren't trying to clean up our forum by merging multi-hundred post discussions together, as we generally answer each discussion individually for each user since users might have unique situations, and when we already have an answer elsewhere we link to it rather than merge.

In our own usage we split way more often than we ever merge on this particular forum. As for as why a move extension hasn't been created I believe that there was a discussion about that at one point but I can't locate it at the moment.

As a reminder though community extensions are their authors extensions, and the Flarum team itself has no say or impact on how fast those extensions get updated or what extensions get made.

yes, everyone's reequipment is unique. in my case a discussion page gets number 1 google position and some x user asks the same question again , why we need to spend time again repeating the same answer. end of the day a FORUM will be used in many places .. this is not meant for certain users right

1 it will create duplicate content
2 duplicate page (of course google will rank based on page bounce rate)
3 if i merge a page after 2-3 days it will delete the discussion id that will leads to creating a 404 page at google console

sir i will not argue .. everyone one has their own reasons. i can not blame someone for my need.

Hari I also suggested a change-ID extension one time, because of your same issue. split > merge > rename > change

Hari I don't know where this utter frustration comes from, but understand that you can be thankful for having such a wide selection of extensions to choose from ahead of any stable release. Now that we are closing in on stable, extensions developers will have to pull some serious weight patching their inventory for the last two (beta 16 and stable) releases. Once that is done more developers will join and everyone can start looking at improving and creating extensions.

Complaining about a missing feature with bold, capitalised and larger fonts etc when everyone is trying so hard to get to stable and knowing that you have been made well aware about the fact that Flarum is beta, seems unnecessary?

Yes I could recall somewhere I read "do not use in production environments" and when I came accross such complicated situations I have realised the true meaning of that line.

Ok, I will wait I will not bring this topic again.

Sometimes due to the lack of poor grammar & English skills it may sound in harsh manner but I did not mean in that way. 🌼🌼🌼🌼
