Transferring data to a fresh install

This is a semi-hypothetical situation.

If I need to move my forums to a new server. Or install the latest beta fresh rather than upgrading.

Would it be possible to create a fresh install, set it up with the same paths, etc. as the original forums, and then replace the database with the old database? Would that "transplant" the forums, user identities, discussions etc. intact and all?

I have a feeling it should work, but I'm too new to Flarum to know of any gotchas.

move the files, import the backup of the old database to your new location. Run composer update then open the admin page, confirm the database password.

remember to use the same prefix for database

Yes, absolutely. Don't forget to also copy the assets (avatars, uploaded files, ...) which are in the public/assets folder.

Some extension could also have important data in storage, but I don't know of any extension that uses it for purposes other than temporary files at the current time.

I asked something sort of similar regarding user contributed data, as I use a custom docker image that has my plugins + flarum installed. I mount these directories that are kept persistent.
You don't need sessions, but if I recall correctly it'll log everyone out of your forum if you don't include it.
