In the beginning, I ran $300-$400 Dedicated Server or $50-$100 VPS with PHP version 5 and old MySQL (using Ads)..
Now, price is less than a pack of cigarette / month, you got VPS and smooth PHP 7+ with InnoDB/MariaDB and Java Technology which is share rendering resources to client/user's powerful gadget/PC

So, I dont need Ads at the moment. Just hobby...

And finally I found Flarum.. 😃

[deleted] This is a very weird error... Could you try installing some other arbitrary extension and seeing if that appears in the admin dashboard? Maybe there's some caching issue going on?

Enable the extension
Make sure you're logged in as admin
Install the chrome extension
Open dev tools, go to the clockwork tab
Refresh the page

You should see something like:

If you don't:

Make sure PWA is disabled (there's a conflict)
Try visiting https://metabullet.com/__clockwork/app

[deleted] Excellent! The extension still has a bit to go (it would be nice for it to log more discrete events). A few data points that would be useful though:

How many database queries is it making on typical requests? How long are all those queries taking in aggregate?
How does the performance timeline look? (a screenshot would be great)
How does the clockwork response time compare to the TTFB in the "network" tab?
How does load time for API requests compare to that for forum visits? Just scrolling through post stream should give some info on this.

Another bit of info that would be extremely useful is profiling output. Clockwork doesn't have its own profiler, but it integrates with xdebug's profiler. If you could:

install and enable xdebug profile mode
Check the "profile" subtab of the "performance" tab in clockwork
Share that output
Disable the profile when done, because it will slow down your site _3x

that would be extremely useful too!

Seems quicker now I've updated to Beta 16 and removed incompatible extensions. However, TTFB is still high at around 400-600ms

Small update - I've moved metabullet.com to Hetzner - something quite powerful with 4 CPU cores and 16Gb RAM (it's running other stuff), and the speed.........remains the same :-(

Right......

I've been through metabullet.com and removed some extensions I really don't need. This make 0% difference to the load speed. But.....

Me being all for the cosmetic look decided to use Font Awesome 5 Pro for icons etc (I have a subscription). Removing this and putting all the icons back to normal, I now get

The site is now WAY faster than it's ever been. Clearly, Font Awesome 5 Pro was loading every time the site was being accessed, and is pretty unforgiving in the sense that it loads EVERY.SINGLE.ICON even if you do not use them. I know there are ways to download only the icons you want, then compile the JS and CSS to suit, but this is slow and clunky. FA Pro was even being hosted locally !!

Seems there are plenty of other sites out there that complain of the same issue.

Interesting, how were you loading font awesome pro? Directly linking a stylesheet in the header?

Interestingly, this might have been a red herring. I've put the FA Pro CSS back, and no changes to the load time - even after a full cache clear. Must have been an extension causing this.
