jacko Are we going to see this in Beta 6?

This forum often has recent features shown, so it'd (probably) show here before in a beta version. My guess is that beta.6 is already overloaded with other things that need to be done and this is in discussion stage atm..
Alternatively, you can use Devflarum which sits at dev-master and updates very frequently. If code was pushed for this revamp, it'll show there - bugs and all ?

Is there much use the avatar being that of the OP? I feel like it would make more sense being that of the last person to reply. Just a thought ?

HUGZ The first thing to come to mind is if a user has an essablished trust in a community, users may be more likely to read a discussion if they recognize the poster's avatar.

jordanjay29 indeed I think it can stay like this until stable (beacause it isn't a performance change or a added feature), but I would like to see it working at least in a RC so there is a chance to make any change before Stable

Marianox I think you misunderstood me. It won't be in version 1.0. Maybe 1.1. Or 2.0.

jordanjay29 - it would be better to have this in the first stable version - why? It would be much easier for devs whose maintain extensions (better to change something in beta than after 2 years of stable version) - it could bring a lot of issues with backwards compatibility.

Anyway it is up to Toby - I hope he will dedicate some spare time to finish his "baby" Flarum ?

Honestly I like the changes that are done to this, but would there possibly be any way to make the "NEW" and unread reply count be BEFORE the title? I think that it would help with seeing it all better instead of having to read past the title and then see this information. To me, it would make more sense from a new user using this software and seeing this more in line rather than all over the place with tons of different colors (can get visually lost).

Toby said before, avatar has a role to topic as identifier. When they are on right you need to jump from left to right. You lost direct/close link between avatar and topic name.

@Toby Your latest changes bring back many ideas from old forum scripts I know. Icons as topic features indicators. NEW, and numbers of unread. So those are all very welcome.

Hiding labels also is great move on All discussion list and other general lists. But when you enter specific Category, like "Support". I don't see any reason to display obvious label information for each topic [ Support ]. Instead of main Category repeated, (child) Tags should appear. Displaying the same information in loop is against economy of simplicity I think.

Keeping the feedback and controls contextual to the view/task, thus less clutter/distraction/confusion.

I am from a small private community of hobbyist from Japan that uses Flarum. On behalf of my friends I would like to ask a question: is this discussion revamp final? I read the March community update and I might be wrong but I get the impression that the discussion revamp in which avatar reflects the identity of the last poster is final and irreversible. If possible, I would like to keep the avatar shown on the discussion list as a sort of identifier for the topic starter and not the last reply poster, possibly as an option should "the avatar reflects the last poster" being forced to all Flarum users. Me and my friends, we have been discussing this and we found it will be very confusing to us. We would like to have the avatar reflects the topic starter. The reason for this is because for us it will be simpler and easier to see who starts what topic. For an example, we have a member, let's just say Taka, who is particularly best at sharing detailed informations regarding newer RC models that are going to be released into the market soon and many if not almost all of our members love to read all the discussions he started and it has become their priority to check his discussions first before any other discussions. We have been conducting survery regarding future changes to Flarum and in this particular case according to our members they claimed they can easily identify which one is his discussion by simply looking at the avatar because it shows the topic starter, in this case Taka, and they prefer this way. They like the reply status too. And we agreed. We think the status below the topic title - (username) started/replied (period) ago - is small enough and not a distraction and it is easy to read to get to know who is the last poster for a particular topic so there is no need to use avatar as an identifier of the last poster. We use Beta 6 and we like the current avatar/topic/status layout but I am afraid we are a very minor population in this matter so at the very least please give us an option to keep the original layout - topic starter in avatar, reply status below the topic title showing the last poster - and not forced to use something we do not want to use.

I would like the Post Reply / Tag menu to stay in one place on the main page, like the scrubber (post timeline navigation) does. The post scrolls, the timeline stays.

Else I would like the post reply / topics / tags to auto hide and apear with a mouse over.

It doesn't seem right that the topics and post button scroll up with the latest posts.

Toby A user can dismiss a sticky for him or herself by clicking its sticky badge, after which it will behave like any other non-sticky discussion. He or she can reverse this action by clicking the sticky badge once more.

Is there any way of making this permission based? Ie Users will be able to unstick threads only if they have permission. Will be a great option that is.

Chope This is a feature of Flarum.

Try DevFlarum, and play around with Flarum and it's features.

Go to: Administration -> Permission -> Moderate. Then you can set a group to sticky and unsticky a thread.
