i understand it's only a setup extension

in order to make sure redis is connected or not if possible in future add an indicator button green/red.

Hari ux was pushed out of the blomstra redis extension only recently. It's a matter of time for the GB redis extension to mature and focus solely on visual representation of the redis connection.

luceos sir, how to check it is connected perfectly or not?

after installing extension i have come to know i do not have redis enabled at server level .. later i have enabled it in cloudways.

disabled and enabled the gb redis extension two times. does this mean its already connected?

Check ls -la storage/cache that directory should remain empty when redis cache is enabled. For a clean up in that directory using rm -rf storage/cache/*.

we need to run command redis-cli monitor after running we will see a OK message and then we can see whats happening in realtime

do not forget to hit CTRL+ C to stop monitor 🙂

Hari I installed the extension, activated it, and ran the redis-cli monitor after opening a couple of pages. Monitor only shows OK, and no cached links are showing up there. What am I missing?

@Hari please share your exact configuration on Cloudways. I installed this extension and Redis sessions, cache & queues. Enabled the extension from the dashboard. Then I added this to extend.php:

But there is no activity in the redis-cli monitor. It is stuck at OK

heyitsritesh first thing enable redis at cloudways* dashboard settings

secondly, install gb redis setup , gb redis will take of settings you need not to do manually like mentioned at https://discuss.flarum.org/d/27455-gb-redis-setup/4

if you install gb redis setup and not enabled redis at cloudflare i recommend removing gb setup first then enable redis at Cloudflare dashboard > restart instance > goto flarum folder and install gb setup again

to stop Redis monitor you need to hit ctrl+c

let me know once you done these changes. (i am not expert but this is what i have done)

edit: i thought of recommending Redis you personally in the other discussion and thought it could be off topic

once i have enabled Redis at the server level (configured it to wrodpress too (my root domain in wp)) I see 20% increase in traffic and a huge increase in loading experience, i have seen a spike in webmaster tools too

Hari I'm actually getting the same thing. I don't see any output in redis-cli monitor either. Occasionally I see logs building, but not like I'd expect. I'm not using Cloudflare, so nothing to configure there.

after hearing this i am not sure about my flarum subdirectory Redis 😢

just now I have checked, its showing wp options ..etc but not flarum

Hari just coming back here as I've spoken to @IanM. We are going to try with the blomstra redis library on it's own as a method of validation to see if the glowing blue extension is at fault.

This will likely be tomorrow am BST so I'll provide an update as soon as I have it.

i would like to point out one more thing since GB Redis setup is helping to configure everything automatically what it will do if that particular DB number is not available?

in my case I am using wp Redis in root and other folders, does GB redis choose a different DB if that DB number is not available?

if gb redis setup is going by default number could you add an option to define db number at flarum admin panel?

as far I understand Redis will be enabled at the server level and using'port' => 6379, we will be accessing cache server and every installation like flarum and wp uses different redis DBs .. am i correct? or we also need to change redis ports too?

Hari yes, sorry. We tried the blomstra redis library and this works fine without issue, so I'm no longer using the glowing blue extension, in favour of this one.

1Dot The code that you would add to extend.php is only needed if you DON'T use this extension.

iPurpl3x I am getting HTTP error 500 while adding code in extend.php and the same in enabling this extension what's the issue here??

1Dot You need to check the server logs to know what that error 500 is.
