The regular expression I had added to this extension a few versions back made sure to avoid URLs. I’m fairly sure it did not conflict with things like Twitter embed.
murdocklawless do you also use Best Answer? There’s a known conflict with link preview if you use both Hashtag and Best Answer. Or, at least there was. Not sure about this latest version of Hashtag.
