Best way to load products from our webshop (Lightspeed HQ)

Hi folks,

As I'm not a developer / programmer, I'd like to know in what direction to think.
What I'd like to achieve:
Possibility to include product(s) from our Lightspeed HQ webshop. A kind of tagging system. In my mind I see an input autocomplete field which checks for related products which can be selected so it would imported in the discussion / post with image and link.

All products are available through an API on our webshop. I'm sure this must be possible, but I'd like to know in what direction to think 😃

Hielkio one solution could be to use the MediaEmbed feature of the TextFormatter so that links to your website are rendered as a custom block or an iframe https://s9etextformatter.readthedocs.io/Plugins/MediaEmbed/Synopsis/

It could look like a link to Amazon or YouTube with the MediaEmbed feature enabled (it can be enabled with the FoF Formatting extension).

Extensions can register additional MediaEmbed websites using the Formatter extender and the TextFormatter API https://s9etextformatter.readthedocs.io/Plugins/MediaEmbed/Add_custom/

You could also not use MediaEmbed and instead save the product identifier as a new attribute on the post or discussion, then write your own Flarum Mithril component to render it above or below the post.

Providing autocomplete would likely be a different feature that can be implemented separately. You could for example use an auto-complete dropdown similar to the one found in our Mentions extension https://github.com/flarum/mentions/blob/master/js/src/forum/addComposerAutocomplete.js
