How to host Flarum
xxJohneyxx11 welcome to the Flarum forum.
It seems like you have pasted a link to a local file on your computer. As such, we can't see it.
We have not enabled image upload on this website, but you can embed images hosted on third-party websites like Imgur.
Sorry but can you host Flarum like this on a 2020 macbook air?
xxJohneyxx11 you can absolutely test Flarum or develop extensions on a macbook air with a setup like MAMP. As long as you can get a PHP development setup that meets our system requirements, you can use pretty much any computer with any operating system.
Some people have hosted forums on Raspberry Pis but I wouldn't recommend hosting on such a small computer or laptop unless it's some sort of internal project. Best to use a trusted shared or VPS hosting in the cloud for production hosting.

xxJohneyxx11 I have Flarum installed on a MacBook. I just followed online tutorials and took advice from @luceos. But, as @clarkwinkelmann said, this is just for testing/dev purposes. Actually hosting? I would just ask, why?
For extension development on Mac I basically use Laravel Valet, MySQL, and the open source VSCodium.
010101 Hi!
the only reason I want to use a macbook, is because that's all i have. I only got a tablet phone and macbook and I love using Free Flarum, but I want to step it up and self host it.

xxJohneyxx11 self host it.
Do you know I really like this Word, However you can use xampp https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html and enable port forwarding in your router settings and open port 80 then hide your ip with cloudflare and then get a free ssl and point dns records to your ip with cloudflare cloud proxied that's all enjoy

1Dot Self-hosting may sound like a good idea, but it really isn't for a variety of reasons which are quite obvious. Also, it's simple to reveal the real IP behind Cloudflare with a little imagination. One of many examples here - https://devanswers.co/get-real-client-ip-address-cloudflare-apache-php/
[deleted] OK I already know about it however It's not about IP I just given him the cloudflare suggestion as he will get free CDN, TRUSTED SSL, Security and Speed Boost and even he can use cloudflare firewall to literally do anything like blocking other countries or blocking images from loading on other domains and Possibilities are endless, and however he can protect website by adding security headers and forbidden the directory browsing with htaccess. A shared host in not too expensive !
I bought a host(500MB, 3 months) with 2$.
