shebaoting I am originally a Laravel/backend-developer too. I was able to get some decent quality extensions out pretty fast by looking at other examples and by asking questions. We now have more extensions to take inspiration from and we also have more developers to respond to questions.
Do understand that your first extension might take a while because you need to wrap your head around the concepts of the stack. You (probably) already know the role npm plays with compilation, which is a great benefit.
