Namecheap Shared Hosting Installation problem

Hi all. I recently decided to make the jump from Discourse to Flarum, but I'm having problems installing Flarum on a Namecheap Shared hosting plan on a subdomain ( forum.domain.com ) on which Discourse was previously installed.

I've followed the instructions set out as per https://docs.flarum.org/install.html and modified the subdomain's document root to match Flarum's public folder (the recommended method) using CPanel. The subdomain does not load anything though, and I can't see what the problem is after some hours looking for an answer here on Flarum and Namecheap's forums.

Any help is appreciated.

JamminMB can you walk us through you installation steps? It’s a bit hard to give you advise at this stage. What does „does not load anything” mean? What’s the error you are seeing exactly?

I followed Namecheap documentation to set the requirements to install Flarum (SSH access etc). I accessed SSH using "Terminal" in Cpanel and then installed Flarum using Composer.

I then set Flarum's "Public" folder as the Document Root of the Subdomain I.wish to use, using Cpanel. I haven't edited any files within Flarum.

Just searched for the "config.php" file in the Flarum folder and it's not there

JamminMB did you actually use forum.domain.com as an address? If so this meant as a placeholder for your own domain. In any case you need to make sure the DNS record of your domain points to the namecheap servers IP.

GreXXL forum.domain.com is set up as a subdomain and its webroot folder points to the public Flarum folder.

The domain is from Namecheap and the main domain address is used for a Wordpress website (also hosted on Namecheap on a different hosting plan) so the DNS points to that server

I tried setting up a CNAME redirect for forum.domain.com that points to this new Namecheap server, but still no luck.

I managed to load Flarum on the subdomain now. There was a simple setting on the Namecheap dashboard to change to the nameserver to "Namecheap Web Hosting DNS" instead of "Basic DNS" (now I'm on a shared hosting plan) and that seems to have fixed it.

JamminMB that's odd, does your root domain resolve? I haven't had issues with creating more than one sub domain for my Flarum tests on NameCheap.

Ralkage the root domain resolves and I've had no problems with the WordPress site

Might have to contact Namecheap. The SSL certificates still say pending in Cpanel dashboard for both the root domain and Subdomain even though it's been over 24hours. But the WordPress site is still available under Htpps. Perhaps there's an issue there

JamminMB I was about to suggest this solution as I have faced the same issue while trying to setup my flarum installation on Namecheap's shared hosting a few days ago. I received the info from their support team, they offer live chat support, you can utilize that.
