Approve first post/two

I suggest for mitigating spam and ban evasion, having the first one or two posts require manual approval for new accounts. This could be an option in the permission panel?

You could basically already do this (require the default Members group to require approval for their posts), but you would need a way to automatically move users into the pre-approved group once they had made the posts. Flarum doesn't yet have a way to do this, but someone could create an extension to move groups upon a certain trigger (e.g. # of posts, # of likes, length of membership, etc).

I'm sure jordanjay29 meant a extension checking the number of (approved) posts a user has and automatically moving them (or not) based on that information

How so? Assuming there is a extension that causes a user to bump into the next group (eg Validated-Members) after a certain number of approved posts automatically, no extra time would be needed for anything. Except for manually approving posts, which is a set requirement

Kulga Right that'd be quick, I was thinking of how long it'd take to move each person to a group manually and counting posts.

datitisev I agree – the approval seems only most useful when applied to new people, unless it's a private forum.

Currently some spam user are registering in my Flarum community able to bypass Google ReCaptcha and Akismet.
New user should have post automatically in queue for approval than when maybe 5 post has been approved user should be able to post without approval. Please add options on approval extension.

Also, it's a little offtopic but avatar approval would also be very useful due to adsense, I've got a few forums banned because of users having nsfw avatars.

isti37 That's an interesting point, but as you say, it's off-topic. It would be a completely unrelated feature.

MartinJD Flarum is not yet spam ready. Security must be improved, a new user should have post moderated and automatically should be existent an account upgrade that allow user to post after some approved post.

Actually you can only forbid to all to post without approval and manually assign every user to a different group to be able to post with approval. This is terrible.

Yeah, I agree, it's the wrong way around. Would be great to be able to approve new posters.

peopleinside Flarum is built around getting people up and running quickly with a Forum and is made highly extensible for people's greatest needs. Most forum owners I know are reactive to spammers, not proactive. Even here on discuss we're fairly reactive to spam rather than proactive. With that said we do have proactive monitoring from a spam filtering service for forums enabled and on my own Forums I use my perspective extension to monitor for other content that's unacceptable.

There is nothing stopping someone from developing an extension that required the first X number of post to be approved before users can post freely. I don't think that this feature will make it into core, and definitely not before stable.

tankerkiller125 With Flarum default "security" settings you cannot ban an IP, you need an extension that can be supported or not and also you need an extension for protect yourself from spam.
I disagree this is good but ok.

I changed now my forum settings to approve every registered post, i don't like so much this but seems currently is the only way to prevent spam avoiding to have an extension for every single function you need.

I also have the issue that if there are abuse reports no email are sent to the admins or moderators so sometime take very long time before I'm aware of the issue.

In the way of moderation there are a lot of improvement needed but this is only my 2 cents.
