Modal box instead of alert

When cancelling a message an alert is shown for confirmation. In my opinion, this is annoying and ruins the smooth experience because I have to move the cursor to the top. Someone might also block further alerts by mistake.

Another place where is an alert is the rename option, the keyboard should focus on title and allow editing. Much better yet, hovering on the title should show a "Click to rename" tooltip and allow editing when clicked by someone with access.

A modal box over the posting form could be a much better solution.

isti37 The alerts are browser alerts, so wether the keyboard focuses on it or not isn't up to Flarum, it's up to your browser.

Someone might also block further alerts by mistake.

That is quite true, something I hadn't thought about... although, for example, Safari only gives the option to block alerts if they keep coming very often, which isn't the case with Flarum.

There's already an issue to turn this alert into a modal, so this will be done at some point.

About the cancel message, not sure how a modal could fix the interruption for the user? We would still need to keep the window from closing (not sure if that's even possible without such an alert), so the user would be required to confirm his action somehow in any case.

Less than 2% of people uses Safari in my country. (which has some nice alerts if I remember right)

Simply replace the alert with a persistent modal over the posting form. The experience would be much better.

datitisev Doesn't matter, the draft/edit should be saved into the database if someone is afk or out of focus and loaded as a notification (or saved into a drafts folder) if there is a draft event. I don't think a forum is important enough to block me from closing my browser.

Much more professional than sticking an alert and hope someone will return.

Well, you can always kill the browser process on your computer. It's your computer, you run it how you want. Flarum just wants to make sure it doesn't eat someone's post that they wanted to actually post or save.

You're right, drafts would be a more elegant solution. When those are implemented, it would be a good time to bring this up again.
