Move Posts A Flarum extension. Move posts from one discussion to another. WARNING: This extension can in certain scenarios result in breaking old URLs to posts of the discussion you're moving posts to. Usage Simple Move VS Complex Move The extension allows you to select multiple posts to move from one discussion to another. Certain scenarios are not allowed, while others are allowed but yield to different results. Moving posts can either be a simple process of pushing the posts at the end of the target discussion, or it can be a complicated process of pushing the posts in between the target discussion's posts, thus breaking the target discussion posts's old URLs (meaning old URLs will no longer point to the correct posts, because we update their number field to allow squeezing in the moved posts). Which method will be chosen depends on the creation date of the posts being moved, and the creation date of the target discussion's last post. The extension makes knowing which method will be used easily, by providing a Check Operation Type button in the relevant modal, so that you know what you're dealing with before proceeding. The following diagram summarizes the couple scenarios: Moving The First Post When moving the first post of a discussion: If the discussion only has that one post, that post will be replace by a normal post with the content The discussion has been moved to Target Discussion (the content is customizable through the admin panel). If the discussion has multiple posts, the first post will be replaced by an event posts (as per usual) and the second post will be set as first. Event Posts Moved posts are replaced by event posts. hi @SychO i can not update 0.1.8 to 0.2.0

Package "sycho/flarum-move-posts" v0.1.8 is already installed! To find out why, run composer why sycho/flarum-move-posts

Steve33 0.2.0 is for Flarum 2.0, so you don't need the update

SychO so I just have to ignore info from extension update page, to update to 0.2.0. if I'm running 1.8.10 Flarum?

I have a need to move posts from blog to regular forum discussion. I can mark comments to move them but I don't have option (button on the top right) to execute move. Possible? Or there is some workaround for this?

Interesting discussion on blog but since I removed blog completely as separate section on user request, it is harder to keep track of comments in blog, so I wanted to open new discussion on forum.

Silvestrus this extension does not integrate with the blog one. The only way you can do this is if you can open this discussion through the default UI /d/:id

SychO I can see it now. I thought that it might be on "three dot" menu on the right top corner. Didn't think that it is on the top. It was long discussion.... Thanks again @SychO . Great extension!

is there any way to move posts within same topic ? (not to another topic as this extension suggests).

Or, will splitting few posts into new topic and again merging them back (complex move) work for me ?

I converted an old SMF to Flarum (via myBB) but posts order is jumbled up in few topics (as described here.)

Theoretically it should work. But if you have many posts that are out of order like that, you might be better off with some custom process that handles them all.

I tried on one topic which had 1 such post (posted at later date but sitting on top as 1st post but with correct time stamp).

I could split that into new topic
But when I try to move it back (complex move) into same old topic, the process takes hours and nothing happens.

Tried fof-merge but it gave errors that it couldn’t insert a post into that topic

jslirola There is already a version compatible with Flarum 2.0: SychO9/flarum-move-postsreleases/tag/v0.2.0

If the original author is no longer around, I can keep a fork maintained and continue working on it.

All of Sycho09's extensions are planned to be adopted by FoF, for 1.x and 2.x - but we're swamped at the moment...

@rafaucau perhaps you might consider helping to migrate some over for us, if you have some spare time?

Sure - not only in my spare time, but also as part of my work, since our forum relies on many FoF extensions, and we also use this one.
