A Flarum extension. Article Series support for Flarum Blog

This allows you to create article series by labelling discussions with certain secondary tags. Depends on Flarum Blog

Usage

Install and enable the extension
Go to a tag that you'd like to be an article series on the tags settings page, and select the "Is Article Series" checkbox in the tag settings modal
1. Usually, secondary tags should be used for article series
For every discussion that's part of the article series, open the discussion controls dropdown, select which article series it's a part of, and select an order index. Articles will be sorted from lowest to highest order.
Go to the article in the flarum-blog view, and you should see an article series navigation on the right

Installation

Install with composer:

composer require askvortsov/flarum-article-series:"*"

Updating

composer update askvortsov/flarum-article-series:"*"
php flarum migrate
php flarum cache:clear

Very cool! I wonder if there is a way to convert a comment in the article thread to an article as well, thus having it show in the Blog category, but within the same article thread?

Great idea! Unfortunately doesn't work on my test blog. Even when I make a tag an "article series tag", in article series settings there are still none tags to choose from

Looks like it requires "v17development/flarum-blog": "^0.4.0", not sure if it is compatible with blog v0.5 but if it is it would be great to get a bump on the dependency version 😃

Your requirements could not be resolved to an installable set of packages.

  Problem 1
    - Root composer.json requires askvortsov/flarum-article-series * -> satisfiable by askvortsov/flarum-article-series[v0.1.0, v0.1.1, v0.1.2].
    - askvortsov/flarum-article-series[v0.1.0, ..., v0.1.2] require v17development/flarum-blog ^0.4.0 -> found v17development/flarum-blog[v0.4.0, 0.4.1, 0.4.2] but it conflicts with your root composer.json require (^0.5.0).

Use the option --with-all-dependencies (-W) to allow upgrades, downgrades and removals for packages currently locked to specific versions.

Installation failed, reverting ./composer.json and ./composer.lock to their original content.

HasanMerkit it seems like this extension only works with version 0.4.* of the Blog extension, and you already upgraded to 0.5.*.

You can add the -W flag to the Composer command to allow Composer to downgrade the Blog extension back to 0.4, however this could break the forum if the upgrade included breaking changes to the database as those can't be partially rolled back.

clarkwinkelmann you mean this extension not fully support latest flarum right? May be waiting update for this extension idea. Downgrading Blog extension to lower version is not good idea for me.

Would you please recommend what command should I run when I update my flarum site?

I want to install this Blog Article Series, and my flarum version is 1.5.0.

HasanMerkit yes best course of action is probably to wait for this extension to support the latest Blogs version.

Not sure what @askvortsov has planned, he might not have been aware a new major version of Blogs was released.

It's also possible that the Blogs version 0.5 does not actually contain any broken change from 0.4, but from a semantic versioning standpoint this is a major update so the Article Series extension requires at least one line change and probably a test to verify it still works.

The Flarum version itself doesn't play a role here, it's all related to the cross-requirements between the 2 extensions.

provide a pull request to the git repository to update it
commission the extension to be updated
wait for someone who does either of the above two options

There is something wrong with my mobile terminal:

When the user is not logged in, you can swipe left on the article list page to display the expanded configuration. At the same time, you can also enter the expanded configuration in the upper right corner of the article details page (under normal circumstances, should it be: when you are not logged in, click to jump to the login page first, and then jump to the configuration page after logging in
When the non-administrator user logs in, when sliding left on the article list page, it shows blank, and there is nothing. At the same time, click in the upper right corner of the article details page to display the same blank, and nothing is displayed (normal when the administrator account logs in)

By the way, my version is 1.7.2. I don't know if it is caused by conflicts with other plug-ins.

I can add -W to the Composer command to allow Composer to downgrade the Blog widget extension to the old one. However, this can damage the forum
