Fancybox v5 (Lightbox and Galleries)

Thanks to the dev, I've been using it for a while and it works perfectly!

But with the most recent update to the “Galleries” feature would it be possible to add an on/off switch in the admin backend?

For example turn off Galleries so that posts across the site no longer automatically Galleries images?

Of course Galleries is a great feature!

FastChen That's definitely something I'd like to add in the future. My intention was to keep things simple for two reasons, first, to ensure quick compatibility with the release of Flarum 2.0, and second, because the creator of fancyapps/fancybox has been working (I believe since early this year) on the next version. I plan to update to that version soon, unlike with v5, which I adopted quite late.

So, for v6, I'll likely consider adding admin settings to enable or disable all components (fancybox, carousel, and panzoom).

I'm not entirely sure, but I think if you remove the references to WrapImagesInGallery.php, it should stop wrapping images in galleries and treat them as separate images.

FastChen This is somewhat expected. I mean, the extension wraps the image in a link, so if it's already within a link, I don't think the logic will work.

Maybe in these cases, the link could be passed to the lightbox caption, but that would add some complexity. Do you just want the image to have a link and not use any fancybox functionality? If so, it would be simpler to include some kind of exclusion 🤔

Darkle yes, if use imagelink just normal display image and click the image jump to the URL

not use fancybox function, just like the previous version

Hi everyone,
I’m using Fancybox v5 lateat version with flarum 1.8.5 and PHP v8.3, but all my images are showing with a white round border. Does anyone know a CSS trick to remove it? Any help would be appreciated!

FastChen Thanks! It works! But,[center]imgURL[/center] does not any more centers image.

Update (solution for center):

When the extension is disabled, the problem seems to be caused by fancybox issue

project1537 FastChen That's relatively expected. I mean, for the extension to work images need known tags like [upl-image-preview url=...], [img], or ![].

Other tags (custom BBCode...) can conflict. The benefit of server-side rendering to avoid CLS/DOM issues comes with the trade off that the template must be well defined and therefore doesn't accept just any tag.

My recommendation (as I see you have managed to) is that tasks like centering, which I assume [center] does, should be done directly via CSS using the fancybox classes. This will also give a more uniform result regardless of whether users make use of [center] or not.

Hi everyone, I found that the Fancybox extension disrupts the execution of Markdown and BB code when an image is linked with a URL. You can see this issue here. It would be great if this problem could be fixed.
