samtto an extension marketplace is definitely planned, but it's currently not a priority.
The reason we aren't bundling any community extension with Flarum is that it would impact our ability to release quick updates if any of those extensions were not ready in time for a release, and the consequence it would have to have to removed abandoned extensions that users trust to be included in Flarum.
Based on those two reasons, first we currently don't have the means to automatically install extensions, and second I don't think it would be too wise to offer a fixed list of recommended extensions, as they might not be available immediately with a new Flarum update and also because we would have to include/show some additional disclaimers or licenses.
Once we do have a marketplace I think it will make sense to have some sort of "Recommended" or "Staff picks" section, but until then I don't see how this could be achieved with less work than it will take to make a safe and working marketplace.
However this could be a great idea for an extension or an "offline" tool. You could setup a program or website that shows you a list of recommended extensions and provides you with the composer commands to install them.
This could even be an Extiverse feature @luceos Maybe put extensions in a virtual basket, then copy the composer command to install everything from the basket? Just an idea 😉
