A Flarum extension. Allow users to flag duplicate discussions

Usage

This extension extends functionality of flarum/flags and fof/merge-discussions, to allow forum users to raise a notification to moderators about potential duplicate discussions.

Only the first post in a discussion can be marked as Duplicate discussion. The user is then presented with a search box to link the potential duplicate. This can be done either from the post controls, or discussion controls.

Moderators are then able to check, and merge directly from the flagged discussion if required.

Installation

Install with composer:

composer require blomstra/flag-duplicates:"*"

Updating

composer update blomstra/flag-duplicates
php flarum cache:clear

IanM Only the first post in a discussion can be marked as Duplicate discussion.

A very few people / admins will know this, it should be at ignore discussion area menu or should be for all posts. If possible do add an option.

I understand why it is meant to be like that. To avoid unnecessary reports. But the users will not know that feature is exist.

You can find this in the settings page for flarum/flags

I've identified an issue when using the "Merge into me" merge option, an error is thrown whilst clearing the flag.

This is currently being worked on and a fix will be released as soon as possible

Amarok the problem was on my side. I have pushed version 1.7.3 of the Wordpress extension that fixes it.

It was a nightmare to troubleshoot because there were no errors, but I figured it out in the end. The problem was server-side, because I extended PostSerializer but not BasicPostSerializer, and when firstPost relationship is included in ShowDiscussionController, both serializers run before merging the attributes together, which resulted in the data being omitted because the data types for content weren't compatible.
