I just wonder: wouldn't "Filter by author" be more accurate than "Filter by user"? One could expect a user filter to show any discussion where the searched user is involved to.

A quick question is running in my head, we can directly visit user profile page and find all his discussions right, what is the need of making a separate extension for the same 🤔

Does it not work? The way I implemented mass action, it should be compatible with anything that filters down the discussion index (tag selection, search, etc.)

I was hoping to be able to list all discussion from an user.
I think this is just possible opening a user profile and going on discussion tab but, Mass Action never work there, only on index page as you said.

Also this extension search by author is not for list all post by an author but to do search on the author post.
I'm sorry 🙂 Maybe I need to wait with time a tool will be introduced to delete all discussion just from a specific user than delete the account ;D I read this will be implemented in the future and I was hoping to do the same with this two extensions.

I just installed this extension, and from my test result. If user doesn't logged in, they won't be able to use this author filter function. Is this correct?

Yes. I see your shotscreen. By cache issue, do you mean it will reslove by run php flarum cache:clear or clear the cache in the admin panel, I did both just now, which doesn't make any difference.

Hari Testing in flarum.it with private window and same error for me, not working right now if no logged in. Said this error: "Non hai il permesso di farlo."

fix: users without search permission could attempt to use the user search. The search component is now linked to the searchUsers permission, and will only become available at the required search permission level. (Walys )

ie, set Search Users to Everyone to allow guests to filter by author, or whatever your preference is 🙂

I'm assuming the actor needs to have the "Search users" permission. It can be set to guests.

Yes. clarkwinkelmann is right about it. I just changed the permission, then all visitors can search user.

@IanM after I click "Filter by author" then the cursor won't automatically goes to the input box, on the other hand, the text below the input box, says "start typing", yet the text I type won't appear in the input box.

Excuse me for raising such a picky issue. 😅 Thanks very much for working on this extension. 😄

If you'd like, here's a CSS adjustment to polish the look of the author search box on mobile a little. Without this the search box has no white space above it on mobile. It's a personal opinion.
