README in admin panel not showing up

I noticed that for some of my installed extensions, and even bundled ones, the README button on the extension page in the admin panel will say that the extension doesn't have a README, when of course there is one on GitHub.
For these extensions composer didn't seem to download the README files into the vendor directory. Is this something that must be configured? I tried reinstalling, but it still didn't do it. Under what circumstances is the README file downloaded via composer?

Kakifrucht this could be because the README file is excluded from the distributed version of the code through .gitattribute rules.

It also appears to be case sensitive on Linux systems. The code only looks for uppercase README filenames.

Do you have an example for an extension that can't show its README file? All those I tried have a README, except for core extension but those don't have READMEs at all.

You are right, it was only core extensions and I didn't realize that those don't have README's on Git anyways. I originally noticed it was missing on the German language pack and it is indeed excluded via .gitattributes file, thanks!
