Localizd is a Flarum extension making Flarum a truly multi-lingual forum platform.

Localizd enables (virtually) limitless possibilities to translate anything in flarum that is normally not translatable 💪 !

For example this makes it easy to translate the names of tags into all the different languages of your forum.

Installing premium extensions from Extiverse requires a special configuration for composer. Extiverse offers an explanation on how to do that on the Subscriptions page (requires you to be logged in).

After the configuration has been done, you can install Localizd as you would install any other package from Packagist:

✅ Requirements

Localizd requires the following:

PHP 7.4 or PHP 8.x
flarum/core minimum 1.2.0
fof/linguist at least version 1.0.3
symfony/yaml - any compatible version

These dependencies will be checked by composer when installing or updating this extension.

📖 Usage

As admin, navigate to any settings that you would like to translate and then use the Translate button: translate-ui

This will open a pop-up where all the translations can be defined for that specific field.

It is required to clear the cache after adding or changing translations!

Note: In some cases, like creating a new tag, you cannot make the translations while creating the content, but only after you saved it. See the screenshots below.

Updated 404 and 403 Error Pages:
- The standard error pages have been replaced. Now, the 404 Not Found and 403 Permission Denied pages provide potential causes for the error, enhancing user understanding and troubleshooting.
Compatibility with fof/html-errors.

I have a mainly English forum but with a good number of CJK users. I'm looking at this extension, but it's really not clear what it does. A lot of the description focuses on translating tags, but I assume it does a lot more? Is there a webpage that showcases everything it does?

I looked at https://community.sunrise.ch/ and I see a language select box and it appears all the posts change language. I can't be sure this is an effect of this extension though. Does it translate all discussions and posts?

Hi NateS, basically our extension was created to be able to translate all the parts of flarum that are not translatable by default. This is mainly the names of tags, as they are usually saved in the database. With our extension, you get a dynamically created translation key for each tag name and description.

As you can see in the original post, there is a full list of all the other parts of flarum and of third party extensions that are supported by Localizd.

NateS I think the language dropdown you are referring to is part of fof/discussion-language. glowingblue/localizd doesn't translate discussions and posts itself.

Is there a way to replace cookie-based language selection with URL-based selection ? Google SEO recommends separate URLs :
