Dear flarum lovers,
I am afraid that after many years of forging flarum and working to bring such a powerful and extensible software to bear, it is time for me to announce my departure from the team.
During the past few years, I am proud to have been able to forge so many amazing friendships with some truly brilliant people; people whom no doubt will go far both with the project and with their personal lives.
Alas though, all good things come to an end. The past years have been a hell of a ride but I find myself with diminishing amounts of time to dedicate to my role in the board of Flarum, or on its Quality Assurance team.
I had held on in the hopes that my romantic vision for flarum, and what it truly meant to me would magic up my ability to (quite literally) create time where time wasn’t available. Unfortunately, this is not possible.
It has become clear that I needed to revisit some priorities in my life. With more responsibilities on my shoulders, I had to let some of them go, and with great sadness one such responsibility is Flarum.
Rest assured that this is not a decision that I have taken lightly, nor is this an entire move away from Flarum. I continue to have the upmost of respect for the project and it’s core visions and mission statement. The team have done amazing things and no doubt will continue to do so.
However, the stress of my juggling of a full-time cyber security role and a board position in the project has taken a toll that until now, I had found difficult to admit.
There are more things to this story, but in the end, it comes down to this: Being stressed by a hobby project did not feel right, and I needed to make changes before things got out of hand.
I also could not risk losing time and focus on the things that matter most in my life.
I will endeavour to remain around the community and will offer my services of support and advice to its users, it’s team, and to the foundation.
To my friends within the project, I thank you. You have truly taught me what it meant to love a forum project once more (after my whirlwind ride at others…!)
To the foundation, I am humbled to have been a part of the movement, and to have helped spearhead the push towards stable and beyond.
To the users, I thank you. Thank you for making my journey with the project possible. For truly believing in what I, and the team believed in. Thank you for supporting us on our journey.
May Flarum’s future forever be bright and long-lived. And may it’s community never lose its love and friendliness.
