doomrah Is there a way for links clicked in a post to open in new tab by default? I know about CTRL click and that's what I do in these cases, but it would be nice to have it do it automatically if there is a way. http://www.google.com
Cheun Yeah there's a way. CTRL + Left click. No need to make it an extension that's unnecessary. Learn computer basics / command / keyboard shortcuts.
doomrah uh, i mentioned i do that. no need to be dick about it guys. esotalk does it so was just an idea. if extension is the way it does it then alright.
Cheun doomrah No need to assume I'm being a dick. I could call you a dick just for assuming I was being I dick. If you're not willing to have others feedback on your post then don't post at all.
poush I think leave this upto extension or choice able if in core. There must be option to disable such thing if in core.
MartinJD Hi apologies if this has been dealt with subsiqently, but in this day and age users expect links to open in a new tab. is this gonna be included in a new version? i think it should be core functionality and not an extension...
clarkwinkelmann MartinJD since this discussion, links in new tab became the default, then became the non-default again. After last change this extension was released https://github.com/franzliedke/flarum-open-links-in-new-tab But I realize @Franz never created a discussion for that extension on this forum. Was this intentional?
MartinJD clarkwinkelmann Thanks Clark, just out of interest, why was it changed back again? I think it's bad from a usability perspective not to have this as default.
fakruzaruret clarkwinkelmann May be this can be added to bbbbcode " [link](url){:target="_blank"} " https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4425198/can-i-create-links-with-target-blank-in-markdown
clarkwinkelmann MartinJD why was it changed back again? see flarum/core859 and https://discuss.flarum.org/d/20937-rfc-stop-forcing-user-links-to-open-in-new-tab Change was shipped in https://discuss.flarum.org/d/22102-flarum-0-1-0-beta-11-released The default is unlikely to be changed again after the extensive discussions you can read on GitHub. But extensions like the one I linked above allow you to use another behavior.
MartinJD clarkwinkelmann thanks for those links Clark. The strange thing is that from what i just read in that thread you posted, the consensus seemed to be inn favour of keeping links opening in new tabs, yet it was changed anyway?
SarbjitGrewal @doomrah I think you can get the help of the extension, but once you make it by default, it is difficult to come back to the non-default.
