Complicated program to install
Agreed, it's a bit like ice-skating up a hill for new owner of the program. However it's easy to use for all your visitors. I was in your position, but I spent 20mins a day learning about the installation process and I learned everything within a few weeks. I broke the installation process down into smaller manageable learning topics.
It's about weighing the advantages and disadvantages of the program. The big advantage of this program is that it's the most user-friendly program out there. This means it will be easier for you to grow your community.
A program that does not contain a visual editor that you can write (this is the most important point in the program)
There are many SSH clients. I use termius because it's user-friendly and free (no sign up required).
A program that does not have any major features.
This depends on what features you need. The program contains a number of free add-ons from many developers. If that's not enough, you can pay a developer to make any feature you want.
A program that does not have personal files and no contact page with the administration
I am unsure what you mean by "the program does not have personal files"? You can get support by adding your question in Flarums support section. They will do the best to help.
Even in the installation of add-ons, it is necessary to use the shell.
Don't be too scared about using Shell. 😊
You do not need to learn too many things about shell my friend. 😄
You only need to learn the following things about shell:
- How to login to your webserver using an SSH client. (Ask your web-host for documentation)
- How to navigate through your forum directories using Shell (Ask your web-host for documentation)
- How to install composer on shell (Ask your web-host for documentation)
Also there are plenty of youtube videos out there on these topics.
What is this complexity and inconvenience?
Once you learn the above, when you want to install the program & add-ons, you just copy and paste one line of code in an SSH client. It's not really too complicated. I was in the same position as you a month ago and I manage to learn it from scratch.
I am not a smart person. 😄 If I can do it so can others.
