danielunited well I disabled the rich text extension made a post and it never showed up even though it showed there was a reply to the post. I have it set where guest posts don’t require approval. So not sure what’s up with that. I am using the Redis queue so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Also when the rich text extension is enabled other than not being able to type anything and no editor buttons you can't hit the x and close the editor out it just stays there.

danielunited Still hoping you find a solution soon to this not working with the rich text extension. Having the ability to just copy from one site and copy to mine and keeping the formatting is pretty important.

You can install it without a subscription now using composer require convo-extensions/flarum-ext-guest-posting. Considering previous questions have gone unanswered, this will open up avenues for others to fix problems in the spirit of FOSS.

Great to see it open-sourced! It's an extension I have often wished I could point developers towards.

I originally delivered this extension with a package name of kilowhat/guest-posting, and Daniel U. later renamed it. Now that I can look at the source I realize some features might have been lost or broken in the rename because there are still leftovers from the old name. For instance this line convo-extensions/flarum-ext-guest-postingblob/1.1.1/src/Formatter/ConfigureMentions.php#L23 should have kilowhat-guest-posting updated to convo-extensions-guest-posting to make the mention previews work as originally intended. This might even be throwing javascript errors if not fixed.

clarkwinkelmann well now that it’s been open sourced maybe someone can actually make it work now. What I mean by that is maybe a developer can fix the code so it’ll actually work cause I’ve tried multiple times and never could get it to work.

The packagist license still incorrectly mentions proprietary, the license file itself was updated to a gpl version already.

It doesn't even work, it gives the "Oops!" error but it publish anyway the post. And the user name isn't "Anonymous" but "Deleted", someone fix that.

Amarok if you would like to help, please describe the problem and share any relevant log. So far we haven't seen anyone report an actual problem, just cosmetic issues which I don't know whether they have been addressed.

clarkwinkelmann it’s not cosmetic. This extension is broken. I bought it and paid for it when it was a premium extension and @luceos ended up having to give me a refund. There’s no way to describe what’s wrong with it other than it just doesn’t work. I thought my issue was with the Rich Text extension but that wasn’t the case as it wouldn’t work with the default editor either.

This kind of plugin would be really great, but in my tests, I encountered too many issues with it, and even after disabling all plugins, the problems persisted. I’m certain it has conflicts with the rich text plugin, but even without that plugin, the issues somehow continue.

Your plugin is really great, and I hope you can focus on fixing these bugs. Best regards.

hf06 I tried this on a test install of Flarum with only the default extensions and still couldn’t get it to work. It should be marked as abandoned. It does have a conflict with the rich text extension as that’s where I noticed it at first then ran the test install.
