Allow admin to send announcement to all

When there is significant change, Admin should send an announcement to all users ahead. Either the news widget or Stickest or Byobu is the substitution so far. However, they are actually different.

Not everyone will read the stickest posts but I would say most of users will read their notification.

And When users haven’t visited for a long time, they are able to understand what have happened at once.

I think there is something that really missing now.

If you only need email notification and no web notifications, Mailing could be of use. Of course when it comes to email it might end up in spams so it's not guaranteed all users will see them either. That extension currently doesn't have any opt out feature for users unfortunately.

Since the mail sending service I am using has daily limitation, Mail is excluded in this case at the very beginning 😆

ctml yes . There are other substitutions to do at the moment. But it should not be sth complicated

Most forums I have used separate regular notification and announcement. Admin can create an announcement in the admin panel and just send to all. It’s not oftenly used but definitely useful

I use follow tags prompt, which encourages users to subscribe to tags. I have an Announcements tag, most users subscribe to it after they're prompted in addition to other tags they find important. When I post in their they receive the notification + email.

If you wanted to "force" users to subscribe you could run a periodic cronjob that creates a subscription on their behalf - someone may have a better idea of exactly how to do that but I was thinking it'd be possible with a small bash script that loops through all the users and checks if a subscription exists for the "Announcements" tag in the tag_user and then inserts it if it did not exist.

But +1 some type of newsletter extension would be neat.
