After a bit of use I can say a few things. The extension is very cool, I think for people who support their forum with a lot of images or event/photography communities it's a great addition...

To point out some things to improve:

Being able to edit whether an album is public (community album) or not once it's created.
Being able to detach an album from discussion (once attached you can change the discussion but not remove it, apparently it doesn't accept an empty value).
For better integration/customization it would be great to add some css classes to the /albums and /pictures pages.
- In #content > div (to be able to modify the specific width of these pages among other things)
- In the load more button (#content > div > div > div > div:nth-child(2) > button), or a specific class, or maybe add a class on the div that wraps it so you could point to it, both for customization and for interaction with other extensions.

Darkle thanks, those are definitely good ones, and I can probably add them in the next release.

I will try to push an update next week.

I will also prioritize the "S3" storage method since that's the other thing that's been requested more than once already.

I've been using this extension more intensively over the last few weeks, and my internal storage is definitely feeling it, hopefully, we'll see S3 support soon 🤞. Alongside some of the improvements I've previously mentioned Darkle , I've thought of a few additional enhancements that could be interesting:

Image processing algorithm: There's a significant loss of color in the image conversions, a common issue with many image processors. However, some websites manage to compress or transform images without altering the color. I'm not sure what techniques they use, but if the extension is open to changes in this area, I'm willing to help research the options and discuss them here.
Alpha channel color: The method currently used by the extension defaults to using black for the alpha channel when transforming images from PNG to JPG. Personally, I'd prefer if the converted images had a white alpha channel, as it's usually more visually pleasing and helps disguise cropping more effectively. It might be a good idea to switch the default to white, which is more commonly used, or perhaps introduce an option to select the alpha channel color based on personal preference.

Purchased and excited to try this out (running from Xampp at present)

I have this error though:

Could not find a matching version of package kilowhat/flarum-ext-cimaise. Check the package spelling, your version constraint and that the package is available in a stability which matches your minimum-stability (stable).

When trying to install? Any ideas?

In addition is there anyway to take an image that has been uplaoded to a forum and use it in a discussion elsewhere on the forum?

Jbugy make sure you followed the instructions from Extiverse at https://extiverse.com/premium/subscriptions to allow your forum to download your premium extensions.

Currently a picture can only be inserted in a single place. If you need it in 2 different albums you will have to upload it twice. I want to change it eventually but for the first release it's massively easier to not allow re-use.

I'm not sure how I will handle approval once picture re-use is implemented, because I can see use cases for various combinations to approve an image before it's shown anywhere, and/or approve for use in a specific album, which should have conditions based on picture and album owners.

With regard to pictures, the picture should only upload to the gallery (and be authenticated here) and then if needed, used in a post or something, surely it’s then just a link needed?

So new error:
Problem 1
- phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin is present at version 1.0.0+no-version-set and cannot be modified by Composer
- roave/security-advisories dev-latest conflicts with phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin <5.1.3.
- roave/security-advisories is locked to version dev-latest and an update of this package was not requested.

I am running the latest xampp so phpmyadmin is at 5.2.0??

Jbugy make sure you are running the Composer commands in the correct directory. Which command is returning that error?

I'm not sure why you would have phpMyAdmin installed through Composer inside of the Flarum directory. Unless the error happened for one of the --global commands?

If everything is correct, can you share the content of your composer.json file at the root of the Flarum installation?

So you made me think. I used the window installer and just put it in the php folder. I uninstalled it, put the installer in the flarum folder and reinstalled it and now that works fine!.

So onto the app:
1) When pressing submit, the image does not appear until i manually refresh the page
2) Really need a way to insert the photo into a post. Not the full image, just show the same thumbnail and allow people to click on it when they want. This is how alot of older forums worked, its the same image and thumbnail used, just some link to it (happy if its just some link on the photos page the person has to copy and paste kinda thing). Otherwise people cant say like "here is my new car washed" or have a thread about a project and post pictures about that project in that thread (which others may also want to post theres for instance)

But after I refresh the page, it shows that I have successfully changed the title.
Got same errors when trying to hide, restore, add as favorite, remove favoritre. These actions are also displayed correctly after I refresh the page.
My froum running on Flarum 1.2.1, PHP 8.0.26 and MySQL 5.7.33-log.

SZSZ if you hide the PHP warnings in php.ini everything should work fine without showing the error.

I'll try to figure out which part of the code is causing this. I thought I had warnings enabled on my test setup, but since I never saw this error I'll double-check.

Is there a way to boost the photo size higher than 24,000kb? My max post size is already 512MB so I know it’s not that.

fragicide I will add a setting in a future update. It's currently hard-coded.

In the meantime you can edit vendor/kilowhat/flarum-ext-cimaise/src/Validators/ImageValidator.php but the change might get lost during Composer installations/updates.

Until queue support is implemented, allowing images too large could lead to the process timing out while generating the conversions. I will implement a way to process those in a queue to reduce possible issues in the future.

clarkwinkelmann Thank you, that will work for now. Currently, my gallery images are around 25-35MB, so they shouldn’t time out. But this workaround should work for now. Thanks!

Managed to get some fairly large images uploaded with zero issues, so long as I did them 30 at a time. This was done using an iPad, so any more than 30 and Safari would crash. I think all total, there's 528 images so far.

I do wonder if there would be a way to set the default "sort by" on albums from "latest upload" to another value, perhaps.

Yes I will try to add many more customization options, default sort should definitely be one of them! There will be a lot more display options for albums once I get picture tags implemented.

Sorry for the delay in getting the next version out, it's still a work in progress.

Hi Clark, is there a setting or something special to do for the Mapbox token? I have tried putting the token (I didn't touch anything else in Mapbox) and it doesn't seem to work.

Darkle I don't think there's anything special to do in Mapbox. I don't remember if they require a credit card on file or not though.

Then on the extension side the token + the "view exif" permission should enable the map on images with geolocation data. You could check under the exif details whether there is a latitude/longitude for the picture(s) you uploaded. If the exif list is completely empty maybe you have some unsupported exif tags that broke the parser. You could send me a sample image to take a look.

Also just in case you could check no ad blocker prevents the image from loading.

If the map image is successfully generated, you should see the number of images rise in the Mapbox statistics https://account.mapbox.com/statistics/ (it's the category "Static Images API", there might be more categories displayed if you also use the Mapbox account for other things)

fragicide sorry for the lack of update. It's most definitely still coming.

I have been overworked these last months, but my projects that use this extension are still in the pipeline, so hopefully as soon as those projects hit production I will start pumping updates again.
