Gloomy question

Unfortunately one of my discussion board members has just passed away this week. As the admin, should I delete his user account or just suspend it? I don't want to erase or break any of the threads he contributed to.

What I would probably do is:

send an email to their account making them aware about the content of the person on your community, in the hopes a relative reads it and can make a decision whether to keep the content or not
anonimize their data in the meantime

I would not delete it, there might be posts by this user that their relatives might want to have.

In the end it depends on the type of community and the person as well I guess.

I should add that I know - sorry, knew the person well and am mostly concerned about (1) stopping the emails from Flarum while (2) making sure his posts remain.

The anonymisation you mention - I figured that his email was the main problem. His profile is minimal.

You can change his email to a local domain: something@domain.local these are never sent.

adam42 Ah, I've just realised you're saying it should be up to the family - well in his case, he isn't survived by anybody as far as I'm aware and his executors have instructions (I think) to pass his estate to charity.

I guess then it's up to you to decide.

Hi Luceos, changing this user email address to rip@domain.local results in an error message email getting sent to the forum email address. Is there another way to desubscribe the user from all threads or disable their email? I guess as a last resort I can use SQL. However I figured there must be a use case for this. How does flarum deal with deleted users? Does it also delete all their posts, or if not, how do the posts appear when the user is gone?
