I just updated to v 1.8.5. I did notice that my homepage is now being overlapped by the left side menu. I have the categories page as my homepage instead of the all discussions. Any way to make the left side menu disappear since it wasn't there previously?

IanM there are many more interesting things if the account connected used OAuth (FoF OAuth) 🙂 I didnt checked it in detailed way and it require a lot of tests (and possibly a lot of fixes and maybe not only in FoF OAuth), but the most correct way for stopping all this things is just to deny login for suspended users (of course with closing all sessions in moment of suspending).

The model of interacting between suspended users and Flarum must be reviewed. I hope it can be dramastically improved in Flarum 2.x life cycle.

rwx authorised priveleged (administrator, etc)
rw- authorised regular
r-- anonymous (equal to not approved account)
--- authorised suspended (also cant read content part, deny or blank for any db request, and also cant exit in standard way for privilege escalation to anonymous level, cant use login controller)

Last still implies recording of last visit date/time (the only advantage of current Flarum 1.8.5 suspending model)

This will be correct.

xiaodu deprecation warnings should be disabled in production, your hosting environment as such is misconfigured.

Congratulations to the Flarum team on the release of the final 1.x installment! 🎉 It’s great to see such a strong focus on performance enhancements and bug fixes, making the user experience smoother than ever. The new features, like the ability to mention tags in posts and user permissions for deleting their own posts, are fantastic additions that will undoubtedly empower the community.

Kudos to everyone involved, especially the contributors and sponsors—your hard work and support are what make Flarum thrive! Looking forward to the next chapter in the Flarum journey! 🚀

alicemorgan release of the final 1.x installment!

I don’t recall ever seeing anywhere that it’s the final 1.x release. 2.x is probably still quite a ways off and they may end up having to release another 1.x version.

That's why I changed their e-mail after suspending. They could still log in and ban extension doesn't work.

I know that many of administrators avoid to update cause of lots reported problem since 1.8.6 released. And thanks to all brave users which are test new releases (1.8.6, 1.8.7, 1.8.8).

This is just my report for general committing of the success with 1.8.8 release. I am successfully update my Flarum 1.8.5 directly to 1.8.8 and... and it works. I didn't meet disappearing messages, blank pages in control panel, problems with dark mode or any... Many plugins with minimal maintenance support also works. It's just all works fine and maybe a little smoother cause of some new animations. I didn't tested it widely (some fixed issues was reported by me), but I will and report 🙂

For now it's time to thanks to all developers, testers and users. Flarum 1.8.8 still our favorite Flarum and he is a little better then early. Confirmed 🙂
