Announcing the first Beta for 2.0
Flarum uses Beta's to offer people a way to get themselves acquainted with upcoming changes to our software. Beta testers use these versions to help us test by discovering issues, while extension developers are able to make their extensions compatible ahead of a formal release.
We’re very excited to announce to you our first beta of our upcoming major version 2.0: Flarum 2.0.0-beta.1! This marks the first step in preparing for the stable release of 2.0, and we’re inviting beta testers and extension developers to get involved.
Warning
This release is not intended for production environments and is best suited for those ready to explore and experiment with the changes introduced in 2.0. Using these beta's are at your own risk.
We know from experience it's very enticing to simply upgrade to the next major version, regardless of its stability. But please, do not upgrade your current production installations of Flarum. If you want to give this version a spin, do a clean install. We will not help you recover a broken Flarum installation.
For those using Flarum 1.x
in production, ensure that "flarum/core"
in your composer.json
is not set to "*"
to prevent unintentional updates to the 2.0 beta.
What's Next?
Extension developers can get started with the upgrade process by reviewing our Developer Upgrade Guide. It’s the perfect opportunity to ensure compatibility and take advantage of the improvements in 2.0.
For testers, we’ve set up a nightly demo site where you can explore the latest features and provide feedback. Check the instructions .
This beta period is the ideal time to let us know about issues or suggest improvements that we can address before the stable release.
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for Flarum!
