Change username button

I notice the "change username" button in the user setting page here on Flarum forum. How do I add that to my forum? I am using Flarum: v.1.8.1. I can however edit the username from the "controls">"edit" button.

Thanks @GreXXL. Got it running.

With the "Control" button on the right side of the hero image of the user settings page, users can directly edit their username without any approval. It sort of defeats the purpose of fof/username-request extension. But, I like that control button and would like to know what is responsible for it. I can't find that in Flarum forum.

I'm assuming this allows them to edit everything, not just the username. This then would be the moderative power to edit users, admins have that by default.

No, just the username. The control button is a drop down menu with 'edit' option. This opens up a modal page that allows the change of username. Also, the user in context is just a member - doesn't belong to admin or mod group.

notakoder then you have set some permissions wrong. A member should not be able to see the "Control" menu. You can share your permissions if you like. But I can confirm that the control menu does not appear with regular user permissions. You should check moderative / administrative permissions (like changing groups, etc.).

I checked. Nothing catches my eye as the culprit. Here are the screenshots of the permissions however @GreXXL. Something catches your attention?

notakoder yes, under "Moderation", you have set "Edit user credentials" to Members instead of Admin or Admin/Mod - thus your problem.

Alright. I was fixated on password when I read credentials. The issue is solved now.

But here is a question. Since turning that permission to admins and mods doesn't really stop users from changing the password (rightly so), and because there is no practical reason for admins and mods to approve username changes (unless there is something I am ignorant of), what is the significance of "Edit credentials" permission?

notakoder "Edit Credentials" in the block "Moderation" will allow users with the right to edit every user's details. If you want to allow users only to edit their own username/nickname you will need this extension mentioned above, as this is not a standard feature of Flarum.
