Hey!

I'm 021, full stack web developer. I have been working with XenForo since 2016. This is what I started my career in web development with and what I sometimes work with to this day. In the beginning, XenForo seemed magical and thoughtful (especially in version 2.0), but over time, I got acquainted with Laravel and front-end frameworks and my quality bar grew. Because of this, working with XenForo became boring and uninteresting for a long time, until I had the time and desire to implement a messenger for the forum. Now I'm looking for new directions for development and Flarum seems promising to me, as it is built on modern technologies - something that most offers on the market lack.

One of the first products I would like to migrate to Flarum is chat and messenger. (Demo link)
Flarum seems the ideal environment to implement this kind of thing. Therefore, I would like to study the demand for a similar product, get to know the community better.

      021 welcome - I think there is great demand for a private messaging / real-time messaging feature for Flarum. You will find a lot of discussions and alsoProposals for this. I agree that Flarum is a great framework to integrate/implement on.

        a private message system like instagram, or other modern forums is highly needed and demanded by flarum users. (it doesnt even have to be real time). you might be the one 🙂

        021 What great news, welcome! I've come across your XenForo work a few times, excellent work by the way. As a XenForo add-on developer I can imagine that you're already looking at Flarum as a sandbox full of possibilities and with a very well thought out developer experience, the difference to XenForo in this sense is quite huge.

        Yeah, no doubt the chat/dm function for Flarum is something the community has been asking for for a long time, as you may know Flarum has a very simplified core philosophy, so there is no integrated system in core for direct messaging as it happens in XenForo with "Conversations", so even a simple DM system would be very successful among the community, I'm sure you won't lack for pending eyes.
