Thank you for the kind words.
How are you finding the "blogging" functionality of the Flarum Blog extention?
I think the blog is a great addition to my site, its mostly used by me for site updates primarily, with a bit of use by other users. The way that the blog tag is used by the extension to tell the page to be a blog is maybe a bit odd, but it actually helps if someone accidentally makes a blog post when they dont want/need to, since you can just remove the tag and give it a minute + refresh and boom, normal forum post.
I see some of your blog featured images are smallish so they look a little distorted when viewing the blog article.
Is this a particular issue with the blog extention or your choice of image dimensions?
I tend to use small sized images with dithering so they can look odd at times when stretched on some displays. There is a recommended image size given when setting the blog image, I just tend to disregard it sometimes 😆
And what kind of hosting are you using for SheepisPatio - shared, VPS?
Any stats on server resource usage?
I run a fair few services on the server so I cant really give specifics. I will say I did have to upgrade the server core count quite early on, about 3 ryzen cores is a good amount for now for the services I run. I imagine if you just ran a flarum site 2 cores would be good enough for a smooth experience.
The only thing you may not like if you are comparing wordpress to flarum is there is a bit more of a reliance on using a terminal than I believe wordpress has (i havent used WP in a few years and didnt use it a great deal at that time). As an example, removing files from the server has to be done manually to my knowledge, even removing via admin account only removes it from DB not the server. I believe the flarum team are looking at improving that.
Otherwise yeah I'd say flarum has been fantastic and a great platform for my forum. I'm sure a shared frustration for running a flarum or wordpress is finding an extension that doesnt work on the newer versions, however I think this site itself is great as the userbase is quite active in working things out and the devs are passionate enough to update most of the best extensions.
I can only speak from a user/admin experience though not a dev one but I can say that for me its been a great bit of software to work with
