No approval required after first post- any recent changes?

I've been reading older posts about how to allow approved members to post without approval after their first post. I've read that you can give them a new role to "approved" users so their next posts don't need to be approved. Has this changed with recent updates, so it is easier to do? Is this the best option?

Flarfan79 This depends on how you set up the Flarum permissions. If you have set "Reply to discussions without approval" or "Start discussions without approval" to the "Members" group, there is no such approval process. You can, of course, assign that to any specific group that you have created and either move people to this group manually or with an automated process like with Auto Moderator. Or you don't handle it with permissions but use an extension in the first place, like https://discuss.flarum.org/d/25055-first-post-approval.
