Testing Install Flarum from Zip archive

Hi, I downloaded

flarum-v1.x-no-public-dir-php8.2.tar.gz

as my XAMPP PHP version is 8.2

I had a successful install in 2-3 steps. But when I click anything on the forum, I get

The Resource Requested Not Found

error alert. Unable to post any topics as not able to select tags. Because even if I choose to select the default tag, it gives the spinner for some time and stops.

Navigating to the Settings works. But when I try to go to the " Administration " panel, it gives

Object not found!

The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

what is the difference between no public zip and the one with a public folder? I used the one without a public folder. Thanks.

meetdilip the no-public archives allow you to skip this step: https://docs.flarum.org/install/#customizing-paths when you want to prevent a /public url path for your setup

Hi, I used flarum-v1.x-php8.2.tar.gz

This time the installer well and I was able to make a new topic without doing anything special. I am able to access the Administration panel as well.

I would assume hosting providers are properly configured out the box.

SychO Perhaps I messed it up, I added these to .htaccess and the forum stopped working and gives this list, without the public folder.

Hope I got the flarum/public path correct. It is htdocs > flarum_public > public

SychO if Flarum is being served from the public folder, most shared hosting services/providers will make you, the user, set the docroot for the parked domain you added, or any additional domains added to your account/panel for that matter. It was not until I switched over to the VPS side that I finally understood why shared hosting was king for a long time lol (that and setting up a mail server is 🤕🩼)
