hello, i just installed flarum to the domain edbato.com and when sending test mail, after a while it says.
"Oops! Something went wrong. Please reload the page and try again." in the left corner in a red rectangle.

prabhatkch your host may have the port(s) blocked for using the php mail function. You may need to contact them to have them unblock the ports to allow outgoing mail. If they can't/won't do that you may need to look into using the SMTP option and use a service like Mailgun, Brevo, or something similar.

prabhatkch adding to what ernestdefoe already explained: Flarum (without using a queue extension) will try to send all notifications on posting. It's required to set up a working mail service. You can see the error you receive in your logfile located in storage/logs.

I have this problem too.

Today I wanted to install the forum live, which I did without any problems, without any errors, but I did a test registration and I don't receive a confirmation email.

Don't know what could be causing it? Does anyone have any ideas?

Boss81 please follow the troubleshooting guide and provide the necessary information so we can assist you in fixing this. Likely your mail configuration does not work.

Boss81 if you are only having an issue with GMail it's likely getting blocked because your mail server is either not configured right - or the domain has a bad reputation and it's perceived by GMail as spam.

I have a strong guess what the problem might be!

Gmail does not receive the confirmation email.

I tried it with the icloud.com email address and another email address and they arrived perfectly, but not gmail.

This is a pretty serious problem.

I tried it with 3 additional email addresses, it sends the activation emails perfectly, but gmail hasn't arrived since then.

What do you mean gmail is blocked?

Boss81 if this is the first time you send email "live" from this server then it's more than likely that the email port is blocked by your provider to prevent spam runs. Ask them or check their support documentation.

Gmail and Yahoo both announced that starting 2024 they are more strict when receiving mails - especially from bulk senders. The use of SPF, DKIM and DMARC ist strongly encouraged on the sending domain and the mailserver(s) involved in sending mails for the domain.

Also if you are using the mail driver of Flarum, make sure that the MTA (most likely postfix) of your server is setup correctly!

In the meantime, the problem was solved.

The problem was the following. I have a domain address with a website. It has a subdomain address. Both have Cloudflare set up.
When I install the forum, the email address in the email settings on the admin interface is sample@subdomain.domain.com, because it is installed on the subdomain address.
I delete the subdomain from the email address, and the email address sample@domain.com remains. However, it works perfectly this way.
