Hello. This post title may seem a little strange but I’m looking to start up a new forum and I keep coming back to consider Flarum but I worry about how stable the platform and plugins are, and how easy it is to update.
I LOVE the look of flarum and the modern design which is what keeps bringing me back, but if I look at phpbb for example, it seems to come packaged with lots of solid forum features that I’d otherwise need to scope out a potentially unstable flarum plugin for.
What are the key benefits of choosing flarum over something more established as phpbb?
If I did choose flarum, how easy would it be to update? And would plugins risk it of breaking?
The last time I used flarum, I had to install plugins with composer. Is this still the case or has it advanced more since then with a browser installer?
I’m just trying to weigh up the pros and cons here and I’d appreciate any advice.
