Is there a way to have a simplified default view that only shows unread posts?

The issue

Some of our users want to read every post that occurs, but have trouble visually with having a lot of stuff visible that they've already read. I'm wondering if there is any way to have an option that only shows unread posts by default? I've looked around, but haven't found one yet.

Post some information here like what you expected to see, but got instead. If you can find any logs in /storage/logs or in your browser console that relate to the issue, add them.

So I sort of came up with a solution using the fof/links extension, and creating an internal link like:
/?q=is%3Aunread

the problem is that when you do this, the search is sticky, and so when you click on "All Discussions", it still only shows the unread ones.

This appears to be an issue with the search field in general -- maybe it's a feature?, but it feels like a bug -- I'm hoping there is a way to change it so that the search field goes away after clicking on anything else.

Should I start a new discussions asking that perhaps? I'm pretty new to forums / flarum in particular.

Yeah it doesn't reset the search filter when navigating away. I honestly don't know if this can be easily modified with an extended. I do know I've been confused about this feature as well in the past. I think opening aProposals would be a good first step to discuss where to go with this.
