New to Flaruma but don't know anything about it's installation!

I'm quite new to coding and web development. However, I have been using WordPress for the last couple of years and have some websites already. I know basic to intermediate customization.

Now, I want to create a community forum using Flarum, but I can't find any helpful guides on the internet that can actually help me install and customize the forum.

I will install the forum on a Hostinger server and don't know how to start!

I found many guides online that are text-based, and as I already mentioned, it's very difficult for me to understand and proceed with them. I also found some videos on YouTube, but they are quite old (3-7 years ago).

So, they don't help!

Can anyone help me by providing some basic ideas on where and how to start (preferably with links to some resource guides) and what challenges I might face after installing?

AKA Yes, this is a Flarum problem, having solved which, it will have a huge user base. The official guides are designed for system administrators.

I found some guides with step-by-step installation on VPS: https://www.howtoforge.com/. They say that now the engine can be easily put on Shared, but for me it is absolutely not clear how it is done. I spent 3 hours installing Flarum on Shared, but I couldn't install anything. In the end, I decided to install on a VPS. It would be cool if there were detailed text or video guides for installing the engine.

It's almost identical as WordPress:

visit https://docs.flarum.org/install/#installing-by-unpacking-an-archive
download the ZIP file without public path that matches the php version you have configured
unzip on your pc, upload to your web directory using FTP
open your site
complete installer

I highly recommend against booting up your own vm unless you have experience with that, because operating a server isn't just about a one-time installer process, it's also about securing it against vulnerabilities old and new.

luceos Thanks, if I install this way, will I be able to update the engine and storage plugins? Do you need SSH and Composer?

Osmxnxn if you install using one of the archives listed on that page it will also install the Extension Manager which allows you to install extensions and Flarum updates without the need for SSH.

Osmxnxn Yes, you can also download and install languages in this way. As they are also just normal extensions.

If the hosting server does not support composer, you can choose to integrate the required server environment locally on your computer and then composer the required files, package them to the virtual host. If the local environment is different, you also need to set up pseudo-static for Hostinger (apache's virtual host, the root directory of the file manager will have a '.htaccess' file that can be configured for pseudo-static)
