Invalid Token & Feedback!

I have to say Flarum looks beautiful and functions on the front-end beautifully. Unfortunately, since composer is required, I will not be trying it out for my website. I was looking around for a forum software that was simple to use, but, unfortunately Flarum will not be an option I'd consider because it has no basic installation outside of Composer. It's very unusual. I have a website that has a very high volume of traffic (servicing about 3 million hits a month), but, the need for a forum is so very simple. Flarum looked beyond what I was looking for.

It is extremely unfortunate that there isn't an easy way to install this beautiful and gorgeous software yet.

When I went to activate my account I got a invalid token error. This software does appear to be buggy. Please feel free to contact me once there is a semi-stable release candidate. I do not care about losing data on the forum between upgrades, but, I feel my website could bring some strong testing and it would've suited my needs flawlessly. If there's a SQL import guide, or workaround to Composer/SSH I would love to. I have SSH access, but, not Composer access.

Keep up the great work! I look forward to giving this a real test with my thousands of users.

On this forum? Or on another installation somewhere? Did you sign up with one of the services (Facebook, Twitter, Github) or email/password?

I'm sorry you've chosen not to use Flarum at this time. Composer isn't as much as a headache as I think you're making it out to be, and the tool is useful for the moment as our developers iterate through beta releases. A web-based installer is in the works, and may be out with Beta 6 or 7, but definitely will be included in the stable release.

Feel free to continue watching this forum (our Meta/Blog tag in particular) or flarum/core's github stream. We don't have a mailing list yet for announcements, but you're welcome to drop in periodically to see how we're doing. Thanks for your interest, it's folks like you that keep us going day after day.

jordanjay29 Hello! I don't have access to my server root on my main webhost where I want to put the forum right now, thus, I cannot use Composer. I suppose I could set up a local instance and transfer the files. But, I'm surprised there's not a simple option just to manually install the SQL yourself.

The invalid token I got was for this forum. I signed up via email and got that as soon as I clicked the link. Got sent to a 100% blank page.

I'm still very interested in giving Flarum a shot. I'm fine with losing data on a forum.

You also mention ssh access.

That's all you really need. Root level access is not required for composer to work

For you to "install" a local program and run it like you normally would two things need to happen

Have the composer program somewhere you can read it - in this case ~/bin/composer
Have your PATH variable know where to look for composer - in this case ~/bin

This can be done fairly easily and would go something like this (partially taken from the composer download site)

install_dir=~/bin
mkdir -p "$install_dir"
php -r "copy('https://getcomposer.org/installer', 'composer-setup.php');"
php composer-setup.php --install-dir="$install_dir" --filename=composer
PATH=$PATH:"$install_dir"

If you install composer to ~/bin, you will need to make the PATH variable more permanent (so it knows to look in ~/bin next time you login!), so you'll need to do something like this:

echo PATH=$PATH:"$install_dir" >> ~/.bashrc

At this point, you can run composer like you normally would

Can you jump on Gitter and direct message me the link you received in your email? And if it still gives you a blank page, I'd be interested in any other information you have (F12/console data, browser version, OS version, etc). I'm jordanjay29 on Gitter as well.

Kulga Thanks! I'm going to try soon, but, I think I'd rather wait before using it on my server. Just transitioned a ton of data >< So I'm making that my focus instead.

The error "Invalid confirmation token" still appears when clicking the link sent as an email confirmation. The account seems to create ok and seems to be accessible.

this is probably a quick fix, and essential as most users wouldn't look twice.

I signed up using Twitter just now. Got a confirmation e-mail but when I clicked on it I got "Invalid confirmation token" message. When I clicked on "Resend confirmation e-mail" in the yellow banner on the page, it said something like "Access not allowed" (can't reproduce it).

As you can see I am still logged in though.

Edit: To clarify, I'm talking on this forum.
