CSS seems to magically disappear ?

The issue

Attempting to migrate from PHPBB towards Flarum but for the last 3 days since installing Flarum I have to say it seems extremely buggy or I have no clue as to where to place my CSS . I have created some changes to the welcome header and placed a background image with color overlays in the background body. I have made edits to text color as well by going into the admin panel to Appearance - edit custom css. I've made these same edits so far atleast 4 times due to my changes reverting back repeatedly... I have been placing my images in the assets folder and am using shared hosting. Very appreciative of any advice on this.

zerotechz Yeah it can definitely be rather frustrating sometimes. I had to 'learn-the-hard-way' that it is prudent to make at least one backup of the current existing css (or html) script before embarking upon any code experimentation.
I usually just use an admin utility thread to basically serve as makeshift code save points.

If you wanted an easier way to globally modify particular elements, you could always test out some of these, for example:

zerotechz I've made these same edits so far atleast 4 times due to my changes reverting back repeatedly..

It could be so that your changes were invalid. I believe once you save your custom CSS and it fails, it restores the old version to prevent your community from breaking. It should throw an error if that's the case though.

Aside from that, any CSS modifications under Appearance Custom CSS should remain intact as long as your database isn't wiped.

Definitely works when setting css using these selectors...I'm able to also create a background image for the .container selector that does not revert back..However when choosing that route it also sets the same background image for every container including the profile cover.

I've also made quite a few css changes that seem to stay persistent using the generic css selectors ...Oddly enough I've been successful in removing the x on the welcome message, I was able to change the background image for each tag by targeting the color I set and this seems to be persistent...

I believe I've found 3 different css selectors for the welcome message on the All Discussions page that have showed the background image when applying the css to it. I've set the css, saved changes ,cleared cache and achieved a background image on the welcome banner but mysteriously the image seems to be gone the next day lol...I ended up at one point going into the core files and started making changes but the background image still reverts back to background color.

I'm not in production mode yet so when I get more time I figure I ll study Flarum a bit more then start tearing in to what makes it work

Technically the issue basically is the All Discussions Welcome Banner to pinpoint more towards the issue .I've managed to change quite a few things that are persistent including the Font color ,font-weight and size in alot of areas and on the welcome banner.
I've managed to add the background image to the tags banner as well and these changes stick but the Welcome Banner does not

zerotechz if you are using the IndexPage--tag1 selector, it may not work when the page is not refreshed

I've attempted 3 or 4 different selectors but not that one..
