treyb andrewjs18 No, based on the plan I mentioned earlier. To explain this better, let me give you this example. As you can see in this screenshot, it only appears in the first post of the discussion.

What I’m trying to say is that every member’s trade feedback statistics would be available in their profile card (which appears when hovering over the username) and profile page. However, in discussions, we would use this as a trust percentage.

Think of it like Amazon. Sellers have a rating, like 4 out of 5. Logically, buyers don’t have ratings, and they’re not visible. But in forums, this system usually allows buyers to have a rating as well.

Yes, actually, trade tags in discussions can be seen as products, and in the first post of these discussions, the person who started the discussion will have their rating visible, making it easy to quickly assess whether they are trustworthy or not. Other than that, I don’t really see much sense in showing trade ratings for all members.

Maybe we can make this an option in the future. What do you think?

huseyinfiliz I do like this idea, and if gamification is also turned on, would they just stack? Maybe we can color code it and have the number. Green, yellow, red based on a percentage of negative and positive etc.

My site would likely have reoccurring buyers so their rating would be important as well, but a hover or profile visit will suffice.

my forum on mybb literally has thousands of feedback, so I should know, once I'm using flarum + this extension, whether or not it'll need tweaking.

treyb Gamification was just an example. Gamification votes and trade feedback scores should not be combined. These are extensions suitable for use under different tags. It doesn't make much sense to activate them under the same tag. However, even if they are activated under the same tag, I didn't want to imply that they would look exactly the same or be positioned in the same place. What I meant was that I only want to display the trade score of the discussion owner and hide it in other comments.

My goal here is not to avoid or be lazy about developing a feature. I like Flarum's simple and minimal design, and I don't want one of my extensions to disrupt that.

I think our priority should be to make sure everything works properly. Then, we can talk more about customizable colors, icons, or the details of the scoring system later.

I think trade points should only be visible when the user clicks on their account. I don't need to see trade points on a topic.

Trade details should be included in the field below in the user's account and a small piece of information should be included in the biography field in the form of X/x.

For example, a Trade History field can be created under the Discussion and Likes links.

If I were to give an example from our country, R10.net does this very well @huseyinfiliz I think you should definitely check it out there.

Umutcan I completely understand what you're saying. As far as I know, the site you mentioned actually uses a global plugin called iTrader instead of a custom one.

Most forum scripts like Discourse have similar plugins/extensions that provide this functionality.

However, forum scripts like vBulletin and MyBB have profile sections where rank systems and similar features are integrated. Flarum doesn’t have this and follows a more minimalist design.

Making the trade points/badge system optional would probably be the best solution.

By the way, I haven't started working on this extension yet. If any developer wants to take on this project, they just need to say so. I believe this extension would be valuable for the Flarum ecosystem.

@huseyinfiliz, talking with @treyb privately about this, and keeping in mind that this could be a future add-on to this extension (we don't expect it in this core extension now), how do we get people to actually USE this feature?

but how would someone get notified a reminder to leave feedback once a transaction is completed? perhaps when someone applies a tag to a discussion (sold, found, closed, etc.), your system could send along a notification to the original poster of the discussion.

I don't think it's a good idea for people who need a trade notification plugin to have to download the Hub Extension. It would be great if the trade notification plugin worked with Flarum's built-in notification system.

Apart from this, there is a forum that I know that opens a post about this. But I think this is ridiculous.

andrewjs18 First and foremost, I agree that we should start with the core features and then expand based on additional suggestions.

Implementing a reminder system is certainly feasible—it could be integrated with built-in notifications, email, and Pusher. In fact, whenever new trade feedback is received, a notification should be sent, and we plan to include that functionality. The complexity arises when considering reminders after a certain period.

The main challenge is determining how to detect when someone has completed a transaction as a seller or buyer. For example, suppose I post a listing to sell a licensed product and end up selling to several people within the same discussion. As the seller, if I provide feedback to the buyers, they receive notifications. Later on, if they respond by giving feedback in return, that interaction serves as an effective reminder.

As @Umutcan mentioned, I don't believe integrating with a Notification Hub is necessary at this stage—at least not for now. It might become useful in the future for different use cases, but even then, it would be optional rather than mandatory.

I hope this clearly conveys my thoughts.

I don't have an issue with downloading two extensions, there are others in the Flarum universe that require an additional extension to be installed. With no one else adding to the bounty so far, we are looking at ways to get features, without additional development as well.

if you want to add features onto the base extension, I think it's perfectly acceptable and even normal to add in a required secondary extension to extend its features.

I think the positive with that is that you don't need to bloat this extension's code with additional features that people may or may not use.

treyb I think Hüseyin understood Flarum's notification structure well with the notification plugin and I believe he can develop this plugin without depending on another plugin.

The other thing I meant is that when a user sends trade points to someone, a topic is opened in the forum. But this may be unnecessary.

andrewjs18 In my opinion, the main feature of a trading plugin should be that it notifies someone when I trade with them. The Notification Hub extension is an extension for advertising and notification purposes. In my opinion, the two should be considered separately.

andrewjs18 No of course, reminders are essential for the trade plugin. My point is that there should be no need for a plugin for this. I think we should see the feedback feature in trade.

I am expressing my ideas for a better product and my idea is to summarize that the Trade plugin should have a notification feature within itself without the need for Notification Hub.

huseyinfiliz This makes sense. I am not sure for Andrew's use case, but for mine, these will be singular sells. I would think we could implement a process of choosing a purchaser, similar to choosing a best answer. This approach would tie a seller and buyer to a post, and may be the easiest approach for now. An expansion later on to include multi-buyers per post could be an option as well. I just think that is over complicating it at this stage. Any thoughts?

Won't we do this on demand anyway? So does it need to be determined?

For example, we will agree in the background and carry out our trade. Then I will say to you, Mr. Hüseyin, can you send me positive trade points? You will send me positive trade points via the Add Trade Points button in the Trade section on my profile.

I think features like detecting this from comments are very specific. I think this plugin should work in a simple structure like this.

Let's say I made a trade with you via WhatsApp. I will go to your profile and want to send trade points. I will reach a description box that indicates the trade type, trade points, trade €amount (A minimum amount feature can be added to send trade points ), topic link, trade titles and my views (description box/details ). Then, if I assume that I sent a positive trade, a notification will be sent to the other user and the notification will say "{user} sent you {positive/negative} trade points." All trade notifications and details will be available in the Trade menu on the user's profile with titles.

I'm ok either way - tying it into your notification hub and/or adding it directly to this plugin. I'm thinking that people who install this extension will probably have your notifications hub extension installed already anyways. we can save that for another day though as I think we're all in alignment that adding more features can be in v2 of this extension or something like that.

that aside, I'm still using mybb so the terminology in play over there is probably different than what's used in flarum - I'll try my best to merge the two worlds together in my explanation for my use case.

in my b/s/t forum section, when you create a new thread/discussion a predefined thread prefix is required: want to sell, want to buy, want to trade, closed & sold, etc..

I have an automation cleanup plugin that checks within the b/s/t forum section for threads with the sold & closed thread prefixes, I believe 1 or 2x a day. once it detects them, it automatically locks and moves those threads to a b/s/t archive section for price posterity and to view what has and hasn't sold in the past. This same script also automatically moves threads into the same archive section that are I believe 4 or 6 months old.

In my use case, I think sending a notification/reminder to use the feedback system when a certain predefined 'tag' is applied/added to the discussion would cover a lot of the bases. not 100%, but probably 75% or better.

like what treyb mentioned earlier, a lot of b/s/t threads/discussions on my forum are for singular item sales and/or someone who is selling several items within the same thread.

I'm definitely open to seeing what ideas others come up with though for sending reminders.
