Digital here's the problem...most (not all) of the staff just keep replying with off topic answer (such as having an open thread etc...) non infact have given me anything close to what i was looking for...i do understand that no one is forced into doing so but if they can't help can't they just not respond like at all? Like seriously if you know you can't help then literally nothing is forcing you to respond (and when i say you I mean all the people that just reply with useless unnecessary posts)

comicsmuppet the staff are great, but they should just give new users a chance to adapt to the environment here and know how things go...for example some staff kept accusing me of opening multiple threads for separate issues, well I didn't know that you should keep everything in one thread here as most of the forums I have visited have the system that u should start a new thread if you have a different issue...so what im saying is that staff should just give some time for new users to acclimate to this environment before they start jumping into conclusions.

marcozambi thank you so much for taking the time in writing this...I will sure give it a try during my free time...and just to pin point a little thing you misunderstood, i do infact have a backup of the db...and that really doesn't make the situation any better as I still wasn't able to upgrade it to support the latest version of flarum...so i'll give your instructions a try and see if it helps.

      Thank you so much

jordanjay29 I actually did try that but doesn't seem to solve the issue ?

luceos as far as I understand, the upgrade from b2 to b5 is really hard, but can't i upgrade from b2 to b3 then from b3 to b4 then from b4 to finally b5 ? And if that's possible, how can I install older betas of flarum (b3 and b4) using composer?

[deleted] I don't see any off topic response.
I actually see it as a great thing. Receiving lots of help is better than receiving none, correct?

Your case is a difficult one - we can't resolve it in a snap, especially Flarum currently is still in beta. Plus, you are using a none supported version of it. That is why members are helping you and providing you with the POSSIBLE (not exact) solutions.

If you do not like the help we are providing (for free), then i think it might be better for you to hire and pay for a professional.

HavocK :face palm: and how in the world am I supposed to install that using composer?

Also I would like to pin point that when I installed my forum, b2 was the latest so how do u expect me to get b5 back then?

[deleted] And if that's possible, how can I install older betas of flarum (b3 and b4) using composer?

              composer create-project flarum/flarum:0.1.0-beta.N

Replace N with the version you need, if you need to install it to a specific directory add another argument, eg:

              composer create-project flarum/flarum:0.1.0-beta.3 flarum-beta-3

HavocK im not asking you on how to get composer....I already have it....im asking you how do I install old versions of flarum using the composer create-project command

luceos wow thank you sooooooo much!!!!!!!!!

[deleted] I do think most accusations are valid. What I meant was that in many an open source community your behavior would not have been accepted and you would not have received the help you did.

                  I'm sorry.

Besides: it's pre-stable beta. That thus means that there is no roadmap yet which guarantees that tables and other structural elements will be maintained. And sometimes even that is thrown overboard in the evolution of software.

Part of FOSS is that 'you get what you pay for', when you pay for it often the manufacturer will disclose what upgrades your payment will cover.

EDIT: I have seen you post new threads with stuff along the lines of I don't have the patience to wait for....

                    • [deleted]

HavocK that has the command to install the latest version not older versions...its just you that doesn't read before sharing a link

comicsmuppet well in other communities there's nothing wrong with making new posts for new issues...it's just that this community has a different way of how things work and i do take responsibility for not reading the community guidelines and as I said previously, stop talking about this as this discussion is over.
