+1 for this! I enjoy to have a dark mode but it feels horrible wrong to force it for the users.
The better way would definitly be to make this an option for the users, not for the admin panel.

(Or allow the user to switch to dark mode using the admin panel)

I thought about this option, too and want to reply. Now, a few years later, I have not found a dark mode toggle option for the user. Maybe this will implemented in the future. I think this would be a great feature.

meetdilip fof/nightmode already is able to activate the mode based on time and browser preference. Give it a spin!

It would be interesting to change the colour tone according to the time zone selected. Bright in the day time and dark in the night and some transition between them. A couple of CSS files will be more than enough with a PHP backend. Well, no limits for dreaming 😉

I do remember talking about auto night mode somewhere. Thanks for the link @luceos . I was thinking of a Dusk mode and probably Noon mode. I used to work on a wallpaper theme which follows the different time slots. Dusk appeared very attractive when I managed to do it on wallpaper. I never had enough time to perfect the Noon mode. But the idea was a very bright colour scheme. Perhaps we could simply add a background colour for both Noon and Dusk. I was just throwing ideas. Perhaps once I get time I could try them as different themes on my website. I would need some option to use CSS for each condition in ACP and then save them as different themes.
