There is no reason you can't start using Flarum now though, is there? Apart from the remaining 14 issues to be resolved (based on these milestones) it won't be long before all of us are enjoying 0.1.0-beta.8.
If you do go ahead and use Flarum now then I would suggest using as minimal extensions as possible to start with just to prevent any issues when upgrading; the majority of extensions will be affected in this release. It's a thing I have been doing with my installation and I haven't run into any errors thus far.
