Post grouping into topic and tag

Hi all,

I'am sorry if this has been asked or discussed here before.

Is there a plan to split post grouping into topic and tags in future?

Topic used as hierarchical grouping; its mean your post can have topic & sub-topic. Each post must have at least one topic during creation.
URL format:
domain.com/t/topic

Tags used as non-hierarchical grouping & its optional.
URL format:
domain.com/#/tag

Example usage
- Post title: how to install Flarum on windows server?
- Topic: support
- Tag: windows, how-to

Digital Is partly correct. It is possible to have both hierarchical and non-hierarchical grouping as described in the OP. However, they both use the same URL structure.

To elaborate, we have Primary tags, Secondary tags which are nested under primary tags, and Secondary tags which are not nested. The final form would satisfy the Tag usage that OP described, while the first two would be considered a Topic and perhaps a Sub-Topic.

Specific grouping what i mean something like this:
- topic 1
- topic 2
- sub-topic 2-a
- sub-topic 2-b

If i want to post within sub-topic 2-b just to tick/select sub-topic 2-b automatically embed to parent topic in post listing.

For tags feature, maybe can implement #hashtag directly within post content similar in social media.

I think this is what Flarum already does. If you go into a Primary or Secondary tag, and click Start a Discussion, the tags are pre-filled for you. Is this what you needed or something else?

jordanjay29 maybe something we can call this is enhancement?

For techie user Flarum was very good (based on my local test). What i need to do is not to confusing my user when my forum goes online.

Topic as post category and tag as free grouping & user can add as much tag as s\he want without asking site admin to pre-filled tag choice.

LawuKini You are saying that you want your users to create their on tags?
Sounds like it is more confusing to users/moderators and at the same time a pain in the b*tt to manage.

As for free grouping - you can accomplish this by using secondary tags instead of sub-tags.

Please correct me if i understood it wrong.

Digital sorry if i make you confuse.

Lets take a look at simple example:
- primary tags (Flarum) = groups (Facebook)
- secondary tags (Flarum) = #hashtag (Facebook)

Only site admin can create primary tags & all post must be asigned in one primary tags only.

User can create their own secondary tags without asking to site admin.

Hope this make your sense.
