Can you share your MIME settings? And maybe a link to your test file if it's not sensitive?

We have a MIME checker feature planned for FoF Upload but it's not been released yet. I could run your file through it locally to see what it says if needed. The detected MIME does depend on the hosting, so it's also possible FreeFlarum does not have the required MIME types registered in the operating system.

Hi,

I am using the fof upload extension and it will not allow a standard .txt file type, under the configure your mime type settings I have tried the following:

^text\/.*
(text\/(txt)

Also, I need to allow a file extension of .cbotset

I would prefer also to restrict file uploads to only allow these file types and images.

ClickAlgo this should work. You can add a custom extension to the corresponding setting.

Maybe your text file is detected as a different MIME type because of its content, maybe application/octet-stream if it looks like a generic binary.

Regular text files should be detected as text/plain so the first regex should work. The second one probably won't.

Are you able to share a link to an example file?

Hi, Clark, it was a simple text file with CSS code inside, will try with a basic format.

I have another problem now when I update the text for a new mime type, the save button is disabled, when I alter something else to force the save button to be enabled and save, the new mime entry does not save. I tried clearing cache, but no luck.

Also, do you know the mime type for a file extension of .cbotset, there is a link to the file below.

ClickAlgo on my test server, with the MIME tester PR, I see a MIME of text/plain as expected. But since it comes from PHP fileinfo, it could be different on a different server depending on which applications are installed and registered custom MIME types.

I'm hoping to merge the PR soon so everyone can use this test tool on their own servers.

meihuak this sounds like a file permission issue. Make sure public/assets can be written into. Also check your log files under storage/logs.

My flarum can upload pictures normally, but only can not upload the Watermark images.

meihuak if I remember correctly the watermark is inside public/assets uploads by the extension go deeper into that directory. Looking at the screenshot there seems to be no issue with permissions. Can you enable debug to see if a better error pops up if you upload the watermark?

abczoujin your MIME type configuration in the extension settings seems to be incorrect. Each value must be a valid regular expression. If you need help with the regular expression, please share a copy or screenshot of your MIME types / adapter settings in the admin panel.

jacobgrillo you should be able to get video to work by using the "just URL" template together with the AutoVideo feature in FoF Formatting https://discuss.flarum.org/d/17770-friendsofflarum-formatting

A more advanced player could definitely be implemented but I'm not sure if we want to include that in the extension itself. Doing a video player properly is quite complex, as it would require encoding the video in different formats as well as different qualities for best results. Other extensions can add custom templates to FoF Upload, so alternate video players could be plugged in that way.

Video Uploads - Friends of Flarum Upload extension already has the ability to upload videos, except they are displayed like a GIF and have no audio or controls. It would be very useful and a great feature to include a video player in the extension. Something simple like VideoJS would dramatically increase the usefulness of the extension and would help Flarum be even more competitive with other social network/ Forum software that have a video upload system.

What is the easiest way to insert the URL for a video upload into a post?

I can't find any option outside of the compose modal for users to upload files. So they would need to upload through the compose modal first, then open the file through My Files link in their settings (myflarm.com/u/user/uploads) to get the URL, then insert that into the post.

It seems like a lot of steps... maybe if the attachments are detected as a supported video type (.mp4, .ogg, .webm). they can be inserted differently using the URL instead of upl-file uuid?
