Notify - notifications for Slack, Hipchat and Gitter (compatible with Beta 6)

Hi all,

I forked the @moay and @nielstholenaar (awesome work guys!) and make it compatible with Flarum Beta 6.

You can now install it via composer with composer require manelizzard/flarum-ext-notify and give it a try.

First of all, great extension.

Unless I'm missing something, aren't Slack testing tokens designed for testing exlusively; wouldn't a webhook-centric setup be more straight forward for many users? It's how almost every other service we use interacts with Slack (Gitlab, Jenkins, JIRA).

Genuinely just a question/discussion, not a criticism.

Well, I suppose it would be better a webhook-centric. I am not a web developer expert, so I picked up what already was done and fix it for the Beta 6! We can discuss a better way to achieve the same in a better and easier way ?

https://api.slack.com/apps Create an app and you will get a bearer token that you can use (Client ID/Secret).

That's it, you can get your token for the API in https://api.slack.com/tokens. Also you can find all the documentation about slack integrations there.

But the field "Slack token" in Notify Admin, correspond to "Client ID" or "Client Secret" ?

I've try with the "Client Secret" it doesn't seem to work. I also try "OAuth Tokens" but as I guess, it doesn't work too.

CedricMouleyre none of both. you can get apps token after you distributed the apps to your team at slack.
then you can get token here https://api.slack.com/custom-integrations/legacy-tokens

mgilang You need API key, bot name and channel id. See https://github.com/php-telegram-bot/core/blob/master/README.md#create-your-first-bot for info on creating the bot.

in discourse i must use Chat ID that will show when user chat anything to bot. and this chat id must placed in each user settings.

What should I exactly put into Slack settings "Channel to post to"? Just a name of the channel without "#" ?

Alright, I managed to get this working.

@manelizzard are you able to slightly rewrite the way the information is posted to Slack? Currently, it posts thread's number like this:

Started discussion [discussion ID] ( [discussion title] )

It will be more user-friendly if is:
Just posted: *[discussion title]*. Reply now (where "reply now" is an URL to the flarum thread)
