So tonight I went to a showcase or promotional place where I promoted my project Nintendo Ninja News and also wheeled out Flarum. The way that I pitched the forum software that that this was modern forum software of 2016 and beyond.
I compared it to Facebook Groups as a "sexed up version that had depth to it" with the ability to have better discusssions and complete ease of use on smartphones and tablets. The event itself was smaller than expected and did not reach the audience that Nintendo Ninja News needed.
However from just strangers there was a number of nods of approval on the design ans ease of it. There was a couple very positive feedback specially from people who only use social media which has been a huge thorn in the side of forum admin who struggle to pull people away from Facebook and Twitter. They agreed that the simple design and feel of the software was very good. I showed them a standard forum software with normal category board and all the sidebar on the right hand side and they noted they like Flarum better because it was easier and that discussions was the front and centre.
Overall the forum software had a positive outing from people who don't use forums, there would likely be more of a reaction and a wow factor from thoe who do use forums.
